Sarah Palin Once Considered Abortion
Speaking at a “right-to-life” event in Indiana yesterday, former Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin told the crowd that she has “just for a fleeting moment” considered an abortion when she learned her youngest son, Trig, would be born with Down’s Syndrome: “That blew me away, it rocked my world… It was a time I asked myself, was I going to walk the walk?” she said. In the end, obviously, she chose to continue the pregnancy. Trig turns one year old tomorrow.
Hmm. This is the second time that Palin has acknowledged that abortion is an issue of choice. Last summer she said she was proud of pregnant daughter Bristol’s “decision to have her baby.” Now she’s saying she considered having an abortion, but chose not to. Clearly, both she and Bristol chose what was right for them and their families, but they had a choice. Palin, of course, is a staunch supporter of revoking Roe V. Wade. If she got her way, the two options SHE considered would be whittled down to one—for the rest of us. [AOL News]

Wow…I’m sure when Trig grows up he is going to feel great about the fact that his mom almost aborted him.

the irony of this is so sickening…SHE can make the decision, but the rest of us can’t? What a f*ing hypocrite!!!
Would Palin like to see back-alley abortions make a comeback?
Abortion, unfortunately, is like alcohol-even when it’s illegal, we’ll find a (far more deadly) way to get it. Study history, people! Pre-roe v wade abortions killed so many people, and ruins so many more lives. Let women have the right to choose what they do with their bodies! Gov’t and the church need to butt out.

I can’t believe that a women in power would want to take women’s liberty’s back 100 years… It just blows my mind. It makes you wonder if her daughter just had her baby because her mom is such a conservative

And the smug look on her face sums everything up. Just because made the choice to abort, does that mean it’s the right choice for everyone? No. For a woman, she seems very uneducated as to women in general.

I am personally against abortion, but my opinions shouldn’t affect what other women choose to do to themselves. I don’t believe any person should be allowed to decide that. Whether it’s legal or not women will find a way to get their abortions. We need to allow them access to the services so they don’t damage themselves while getting rid of their “mistakes”. It’s just like smoking. It’s legal and the cigarettes are readily available, but if you don’t like it you can choose not to smoke. Why do so many people care what OTHER women are doing? If the woman doesn’t want the child from the moment she realizes she’s pregnant, what makes anyone think she would take the time and effort to raise a productive member of society anyway? In my opinion, she’s doing society a favor.

I can understand the comment that Sarah Palin is proud of Bristol for her choice to have her baby, as she is pro-life. I find it extremely ironic how she says she herself considered Trig’s abortion instead of his adoption. Does she think having him makes her better than the women she obviously looks down upon that have had abortions? What a hypocritical hag.

@diablita: exactly!! people want to say that pro-choice is pro-abortion, and thats not always the case. Nice to hear from someone who is against abortion, but still understands choice!

A lot of women say they don’t believe in abortion, but the fact is when they are faced with a pregnancy they didn’t plan on, or when there is a problem with a pregnancy, every woman gives at least a fleeting thought to the option.
I did. Sarah Palin did. I can name about ten other women off the top of my head who had the same thought. Where we all fall on the political spectrum is varied. And while I don’t believe in abortion, I will acknowledge that a woman has the right to make that decision and I hope that option is not reversed.
I would classify Palin as a hypocrit. You can’t walk the walk without talking the talk, and being so vociferous for the overturning of Roe v. Wade is the very definition of hypocrit.
However fleeting the thought of abortion was, my son will never know I had it. Can’t say the same for poor baby Trig. And that is just awful. I can’t stand that woman.
