Romance On TV: The Bachelorette Narrows Down To The Final Two, Plus The Men Tell All

So I haven’t been watching The Bachelorette all season, which may come as a surprise, but the truth is, I never find The Bachelorette as entertaining as The Bach because the men are never up to my attractiveness standards (which are high for reality TV) and I find it far more mortifying to see a bunch of dudes act like mealy mouthed wimps than to see a bunch of archaic women act like cave girls. Don’t ask me why. But I have been getting harrassed by my coworker Kim and my friend Lesley for not watching this season of The Bachelorette, which they both claim is, like, the best ever. So I kicked my man-friend into the bedroom last night and settled in with a bottle of wine and serious doubts to watch the second to last episode of the show, plus “The Men Tell All” special. And lo and behold, I totally ended up kicking myself for not tuning in sooner. My latent thoughts, after the jump…
I didn’t want to like DeAnna, because she kind of the kind of priss that I hate, but I actually think she’s really direct and honest and gutsy, which I appreciate. So, the three J’s remain: beautiful, perfect, chiseled Jeremy; single father Jason; and pro-snowboarder Jesse. DeAnna is going on fantasy dates with all three in the Bahamas and it’s totally obvi that Jeremy drew the sh*t end of the stick by having his date first. It just seems obvious to me that whoever the last guy is will get taken to the finale, unless his date totally sucks, cause that’s the one she’s going to remember. Anyway, over the course of her three dates, it honestly seems like DeAnna is madly in love with all three of these dudes, despite their insane differences. I like Jeremy the most because he seems the most sincere and open, yet uncomfortable, which I think is a good sign—too comfortable in front of all those cameras, and I am liable to think you are acting.
Jason is just way too annoying for my taste. I know he’s a good dad, blah, blah, blah, but is DeAnna really down to play step-mom? Also, Jason has that goofy, puppy dog eagerness about him that I don’t find adorable. Maybe that’s harsh, but I kept expecting him to slobber and play tug of war. I want to like Jesse, because I think snowboarding is cool and I like that he says “rad”, but he just seems like a big goofy kid to me too. And I think he is a little fugly, and I’ve already explained that I judge men on reality TV by very high standards.
So, just as I expected, Jeremy goes home, despite the fact that he and DeAnna share the pain of losing a parent. Something tells me lots of women out there will cuddle Jeremy’s wounded heart. On the “Men Tell All” special, Graham tried to act like he didn’t really give a hoot that DeAnna gave him the boot, Jeremy looked like he was going to cry, and all the other dudes pouted. Then DeAnna announced she was in love AND engaged. So who do you think wins in the end y’all?

I really hope its Jason, but I’m starting to think its Jesse. DeAnna seems to be on a kick for getting rid of the better looking suitors. And its okay to admit that you think Jesse is fugly.

Ummm, Jesse is the best, and I hope he wins. Also, as someone who has watched the entires season, I am so glad that she finally got rid of Jeremy. He was totally creepy, and as one of the other dudes called him, a little “American Psycho.”

I’ve always liked Jason .... I don’t know...he’s good husband material? Jesse is a great guy but ‘snowboarding’ with nothing lined up for the future. Do you really think DeAnna wants to have three kids by the time she’s thirty with a husband that doesn’t have his future mapped out?

@MsCouch I agree. But at the same time, I think Jason is a bore, and someone who is boring isn’t great husband material, unless you’re boring as well. She shoulda stuck with Graham!

I agree. I kept waiting for Graham to show up with a ring and get down on one knee last night. Wouldn’t it be cool if they find some way to run away or something. Plus, it would have made bachelorette history.

I think Deanna is extremely foolish to choose a man with a child when she has not been married and there were 24 other men to choose from who have not been married with children. Why would you want to start your life out with someone who has already been “used”. It is stupid. If she chooses Jason...she’ll be broken up with him within a year. Once she realizes that his kid comes first before her...as he should...and that the kid is the shining star and not her....she’ll be done with him.

Jeremy WAS totally creepy. American Psycho is right. he’s either incredibly shallow or has some deep-down scary secrets. And if they had ended up together, the whole relationship would be revolving around having lost a parent(s).(Anyone else creeped out by how he said Deanna reminded him of his mom!?) How macabre is that?
But I think going first is where it’s at. Who wants sloppy reality TV seconds?
I think Jason the dad is nice and sweet and promising, but becoming an instant stepmom may be too much for her. I think she’ll chose Jesse and overlook the fact he has a dead-end career and is really naive.
And Graham? No way… I’ve dated that type of dude, and he’ll drive you insane, which luckily, she seemed smart enough to realize!
I do want to start a drinking game for every time Deanna says anything like “My heart broke” or “My heart is breaking [right now, ya’ll]!”
And I think a much better reality show would be one where she actually gets to marry each of the final three, lives Big Love style, and has a year or so to decide which two to divorce…

Comment to Marianne: Foolish to choose a man with a child? Why start out with someone who is “used”? Believe it or not, it IS possible for a man to love his child and his new wife. Give a man credit. Maybe YOU couldn’t do it, but I think DeAnna can. She values family and kids. Perhaps another woman (such as yourself), who is so selfish to think she deserves 100% of a man’s attention 100% of the time, would fail. You are certainly wise to avoid getting involved with a man who already has a child. But don’t assume any other woman is like you. My wife married me three years ago, and I have a daughter who is 15. Our life is great, so speak for yourself when you talk about failure.

Jesse is revolting. Come on! This show should have a fantasy element. I totally would have picked Jeremy. Then again, where’s Ryan when you need him?

I think she should pick Jason, who care if he has a small child. I think they both love children, how hard can it be to love a small child? Beside Jason is so handsome, they would have beautiful children together."Deanna, please say your are engaged to Jason”

To All
I saw the promo last night for the final show. Who do you think was at her door telling her she’s making a big mistake? Jeremy or Graham?

Jeremy--for sure! I think he ran back when he got out of the car/limo…
Graham would never do it.
Damn, I an too invested in this silly-ass show!

SoCoDivka...You are probably right but I still wish Graham would get off his behind and do something. He looked mighty uncomfortable and upset on the Tell All show. He’s probably kicking himself. I would just hate to see Deanna go with the ‘he matches all my criteria list’ and tell herself she’s ‘in love’, when her heart might be saying something else. I did it once and of course it didn’t turn out well. I always liked Jason...even before she met him...as good husband material but if it isn’t real deep down soulful love, she won’t be happy and neither will he.

Jason is too sweet and completely phony with his sappy boyish innocence. Remember, he’s been divorced for a while now so his record is not good. His impish little boy is only 3 so how long could his marriage have lasted? Gave it the ole college try huh?
Jesse is cute in personality but not very grown up it seems.
Deanna is a boring girl who made unpredictable choices; for that I commend her, but her two princes are not too princely in my estimation.

McLeake....so true. This is suppose to be about LOVE for crying out loud. Follow your heart...take a chance!
