RIP, Poledancing. Cause Of Death? Miley Cyrus At The Teen Choice Awards
Ladies and gentlemen, we gather here today to remember our dear friend pole dancing.
Beloved by frat boys, horny old men, and starlets in desperate need of attention, pole dancing may have enjoyed decades more of life had not Miley Cyrus pole-danced at the Teen Choice Awards last night.
The chipmunk-cheeked 16-year-old Disney Channel star sidled up to a stripper pole atop an ice cream cart, accessorizing her short-shorts with a crucifix necklace. Instead of actually stripping like a big girl (you know Lindz or Britney would have done it!), Miley held the pole with one hand while bopping her head to “Party In The USA.”
Miley’s mom-ager, Trish, and her dad, Billy Ray, undoubtedly patted themselves on the back over their girl’s publicity-grabbing performance, which was not technically pole dancing in any way that would make the folks at Disney VERY ANGRY.
The rest of us wiped our eyes, muffled our sniffles and lamented the days when a grown woman like Pamela Anderson dancing around a pole was actually considered edgy.

I don’t know what is more disturbing, her dancing or you watching the Teen Choice Awards.

The pole dancing insinuation is more distrubing for a kids’ show. Her parents shouldn’t have allowed this, but I suppose since they don’t actually parent their child, it doesn’t matter to them.

It’s telling when the backup singers sound better than the headliner…

Dayum, when I was her age I wasn’t allowed to wear shorts that small. :[ Let alone go near a pole.

I’m pretty sure that dancing while holding onto a pole for support ≠ pole dancing.
I am not sure about the appropriateness (for a 16-year-old role model) of the outfit with the bra showing, and I’m not sure about the to-the-crotch shorts, and I’m not sure about some of the moves.
But what she did there wasn’t pole dancing in any way.

I agree with jsw the trashy outfit and some of the dancing is way just as bad or maybe worse than the pole…

Its the outfit and the insinuation of her on a pole, however, I don’t think her “moves” on the pole warranted this post.
Now for the skanky outfit….hot shorts and leather boots?

ugh. you can’t understand half of the words she sings. And her bra was showing. talk about inappropriate for a kids award show.

Ditto what JSW said.
Oh, I am so glad I have a boy.

Why was there a stripper pole on the stage of a kids’ show in the first place?

Is it just me, or is she bearing a very disturbing and possibly ominous resemblance to Lindsay Lohan? Please, cut ties with your child fan-base before turning into a skanky “adult”.

One of the local radio station were talking about this morning as well.
I do agree that the outfit is inapproiate but she held the pole for support…she did crouch down but no “sliding” was involved. Blame the choreographer.

Yeah, got to agree that is definitely not pole dancing.
I am very disgusted at this whole sex object at 16 deal. She needs to wear a full freaking shirt and stop sporting the camel toe with those short shorts.

I like how Miley’s name is linked to the tag “frat boys.”
Anyway, she needs to go away and be a bad role model somewhere else.

jsw, would you let your daughter (if you ever have one) dance against a pole at 16? dancing + pole = pole-dancing, even if it isn’t the ‘pole-dancing’ that you may find at a gentleman’s club. it’s still inappropriate
