I’m very sorry to hear this. He might not have been the world’s best actor, but he was entertaining and a gentleman and a class act.

Yeah, he was one of the good ones alright. I’m glad he got to live and work doing what he loved as long as he did. Pancreatic cancer – that’s one of the worst ones.

I *loved* watching his body move. I used to imagine myself dancing with him, and doing Baby’s finish in DD.

His poor wife.

Thank you for using a picture of him looking alive and vital—not like the ones the paparazzi has been publishing of him of late.  Helps to remember him in his prime.

As someone in the medical field, I urge all of you to support any cause dedicated to eradicating cancer.  All cancers, not just those that get a lot of press.  The devastation that cancer wreaks physically as well as emotionally is so immense.  Day in and day out, I see the pain that these patients and families go through, and it truly is heartbreaking.

Give your time and volunteer, do the Walk for Cancer, send a cheque to the American Cancer Society… anything.  Don’t let Swayze’s and countless others’ deaths be in vain!

Huge debates on what his best movie was! I’m a Dirty Dancing girl, but there is a lot of love for The Outsiders and Road House.  Also some pretty hardcore Red Dawn fans.  I feel like Too Wong Foo is totally underrated.

When there are so many to choose from and people are so adamant about their favorites, you know he was doing something right!

I absolutely adored Patrick. He will be missed!!! I am grateful he is out of pain and I pray that his wife will be okay. sweetsdjc, this is prophetic isn’t it? You can almost see him in that bright light saying goodbye to his wife like that. This is very sad news! Goodbye sweet Patrick!

Patrick Swayze had been on my mind a lot this past year. He was especially heavy on my mind last week and I expected he might die last week, now today he has left this earth and leaves an indelible imprint on the pages my own memory book of life.

When Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died I was saddened, they both held a place as well in my memories. From the 70’s and the 80’s. The “good old days”.  But I did not shed an actual tear for either of them, for Swayze I sit here with tears welling in my eyes.

When the other two died I knew Swayze would be next, the photo’s I had seen of him some months back he looked so ...wasted by the cruel monster of cancer. Yet he faced it with dignity and refused to stop working. Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst kinds of cancer, its quickly fatal.

He was a fine actor , a graceful dancer with a beautiful body that could make women melt, yet he was the guy next door-your big brother. He’s the kind of guy you would want to go camping with or to a baseball game, yet would feel just as comfortable with at the opera. He was just a man not a saint, a normal man not without his own set of problems. For a time he battled the bottle . But in this life we all deal with our own demons and we all have them, such is the trial of humanity.

As a woman I was particularly impressed with the fact he remained married to the same woman for 34 years. At the height of his fame he was a heartthrob and could have had his run through women, but he stayed married. It tells me a great deal about his character. I have a great deal of respect for him in that.

I don’t usually put much heart into Hollywood types and such, but he was kind of special, I guess because he was from some of the best days of my own life…the 80’s. I don’t think I will ever be able to watch Ghost again without crying at the part where his character dies and you see his spirit leave his body, for now this is the real life case. I often use the phrase
” ditto” he famoulsy used in Ghost.
That wretched dog of cancer and its pain which eats away and diminishes all but the soul and spirit can hurt him no more.

He said this about his battle :
” Yeah, I’m scared. Yeah, I’m angry. Yeah, I’m [asking] why me.”

On living with the cancer, Swayze said this:

“You can bet that I’m going through hell,” “And I’ve only seen the beginning of it.” -
“There’s a lot of fear here,” he adds. “There’s a lot of stuff going on. Yeah, I’m scared. Yeah”.
“I keep dreaming of a future, a future with a long and healthy life,” he says. “Not lived in the shadow of cancer, but in the light.” -

I believe he is now ....in the light.  Dancing in the light…

To my dearest family, some things I’d like to say…
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I’m writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there’s no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I’m out of sight.
Remember that I’m with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, “I welcome you.”

It’s good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they’ll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you’re part of my plan.
There’s so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.”

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day’s chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you….in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn’t understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o’er.
I’m closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I’d like it for you too…
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who’s in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night…...“My day was not in vain.”
And now I am contented….that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you’re walking down the street, and you’ve got me on your mind;
I’m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it’s time for you to go…. from that body to be free,
remember you’re not going…..you’re coming here to me.

I will never forget the first time I watched Dirty Dancing. Or the first time I met Johnny Casell.LOL! It was love at first sight, I remember putting my father’s autimin in the middle of my living room and taking a running leap and doing the lift on it and sliding half way in to my kitchen. Patrick was a fabulous actor and a great and multi talented gentleman. There aren’t too many of those left now a days. He was devoted to his beautiful wife (My regards go out to you dear. Trust me I know how you feel. I just recently lost my god father to lung cancer. May they both finally RIP.) and to his fans and career. Right down to the very last minute he was there doing what he loved. He will be sorely missed, but he has Defiantly left his mark upon the world, not only with his movies and music, but with his work ethic and his humanity and humbleness. RIP Patrick your soul can finally finish that last dance.

An Old Irish Blessing
“May the road always rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May god hold you in the palm of his hand.”

Patrick Swayze….where to begin? Well lets put it like this, i am only 15 years old, turning 16 soon, and patrick was tied for 1st for my favorite actors. its him and kurt russel. my favorite movie of patricks is dirty dancing. he was so hot, kind, and gentleman like. i loved it. it was amazing, and to me, that movie fit his personality so good. all of them did, but idk, in dirty dancing, to me, it seems like he didnt even have to act, it was just him. but, when i found out he was sick, i cried alot. and i dont really cry much. but honestly, hes a person to look up to, i loved him and still do even though hes not here with us. hes up with my nanny and aunt. i cried just as much for patrickas i did for my nanny and aunt. RIP all of you, and know that we all miss you.
