Revealed: Guys’ Secret Porn Folders!
I have this theory, which our Mind Of Man confirmed, that men save their downloaded porn in folders with silly names. Like “Unicorns,” as DeVore wrote. And yes, I know women download porn too (although, seriously people, you can watch it online for free), and maybe I’ll tackle THOSE funny names another time. But for now check out the REAL names of porn folders, according to the plethora of men I just polled, after the jump…

Another hiding trend? Putting the porn folder many folders deep in the system—i.e. in the “Music” folder, which is in the “Fun Stuff” folder, which is in the “Personal Stuff” folder on the hard drive.
[FYI, we keep getting submissions from guys for this, so I’m going to add as they come in!]

an old roommate had “n0rp” on the shared network, and a friend and I found porn in a “downloads” folder on my bf’s external hard drive. Hilariously enough, we were deleting unnecessary things from the external to make room to copy some stuff off the friend’s hard drive ... but the bf was out of town and we didn’t want to delete his stuff without checking ...
So we put my bf on speaker phone and he sent me some sort of meeting invite so that he could see my laptop desktop as we talked and went through files. I knew there was porn on there because I looked before (and watched it all - a girl’s gotta know if there’s like, truly scary/criminal stuff in that folder, right?), and as we came to that folder, I had to put my end of the conversation on mute because my friend and I, a little buzzed, were laughing so hard at my bf’s fake surprise reaction of “what? oh god, that’s like, videos of blowjobs! what’s in the next folder?” I kind of felt bad to have embarrassed him a little, but it was wayyyyyy too funny. And hey, it was just a little harmless porn anyway.

My fraternity had a server called NNEC (Naughty Naughty Entertainment Committee). Personally I don’t hide mine, its got its own dedicated drive.

i worked with a guy (a webmaster) who would watch porn on a tiny browser window. since we were in an open working environment, everyone saw it. we still joke about this guy, I’ll call him “Joe,” and his “tiny browser.”

see I’d be more embarrassed to have a folder called “ShiaLabouef_ShirtlessPics” than one called “porn.” The whole point is to have a folder that no one would bother opening if they are casually browsing.

My husband doesn’t download, (at least as far as I know) but he keeps his favorite sites in a seperate folder in his bookmarks. And it is under some name that I currently forget but thought it was something else entirely when I clicked on the folder.
Honestly, if he had just put “porn” I never would have opened the file.

this is hilarious, my favorite is the one labeled “not porn” that sounds like something i would do (actually i would just look at porn on the “guest” account and then deactivate the guest account when i was done. thus avoiding having to delete my history everyday. clearly low-tech but it worked for me at the time)

OMG! I use the “people” one, hahaha for totally naighty pics of ex’s.
I agree with you Amelia, just go online, DUH. Guys don’t have any common sense, either that or they like repeating the same nasty scene over and over. Waste of space if ya ask me.

Not that I do this (ahem), but I do know of this guy… we’ll call him “A”... and he saves his porn in a folder named dll (after dynamic link library) and keeps the folder hidden in his folder options. That way anyone doing a cursory check on the computer won’t find it unless they are specifically looking for it.

It’s in a folder titled “Neighborhood,” which, with 37 other folders containing various kinds of non-porn clip art, is inside a folder titled “Graphics.”

why bother to hide it?

Provocative Girl, You just never know who is going to be on your computer.
For example, my friend,... “A”, hides his because he is not the only one who uses his computer. He has a business that he runs out of his home, and he ended up using his personal computer as a business one. His sister-in-law is part of that business, and she knows very little about computers. She saves things in weird places and has to go looking for the file she downloaded all over the hard drive. She also has a very violent and adverse reaction to porn, stemming from her time in the armed forces, when her male peers harassed her with it. “A” doesn’t want to offend her and certainly doesn’t want her to stumble across any porn, so he hides it.
Luckily, “A”‘s wife is also his porn-buddy, so at least there’s no shock there.

Just encrypt the folder, that solves everything. Stick the damn thing on your desktop and call it something like “Ha ha try to look at this” and just encrypt the folder. Solves the curiosity issue as well as the security issue.

I keep mines in a folder called “movies” in thumbnail view so you can see the previews before accessing the folder.

I probably would not open a folder called “Porn” cause well for the obvious it is clear what it is.. However like I mentioned ” Grandma’s B-day” or ” Famous Civil war generals” LOL would strike my interest much more… C’mon boys… we need to get a little more clever..cause we know you do this..Simply call it what it is PORN…LOLOLOL
