Quote Of The Day: Manolo Blahnik Hates Celebrities
“I hate celebrities. All those pointless girls—I won’t name names, but you know who I mean. They are ‘famous.’ Ridiculous. I like women with style: actresses like Uma Thurman, icons like Audrey Hepburn. I like women with style to wear my shoes.”
—Shoe designer Manolo Blahnik on certain “celebrities.” He may not be willing to name names, but we are. Cough, LindsayParisJessica, cough. [Vogue UK]

But he certainly didn’t have a problem when celebrities were wearing nothing but his shoes on a hit tv show…

@writergirl, Contempt for his customers doesn’t extend quite as far as refusing their money, does it?

Hats off to him for calling ‘em out. He’s an old accomplished guy who’s reached the point in life of not caring what others think or how it will affect his bottom line.
ps: And contempt is an essential and far more delicious part of taking their money. He is not referring to those more talented or styled deserving of celebrité.

I guess I took it a different way. I took it as he hates people that are famous for no reason, like the chicks from the hills or the Hilton sisters.

Exactly. Famous for being famous. Just assumed that one.
Still, rarely will anyone but the media say it. He did – risking bad press from these buffoons and their other phamous phriends – my point.
