Quick Pic: WTF Is A Smash Shack?

The Smash Shack

It’s exactly what it sounds like. Businesswoman Sarah Lavely created Sarah’s Smash Shack after she was dumped by her husband of 12 years. The Shack is a place for women—and men—to take out their love frustrations by smashing anything in sight. The breakable goods are provided, but jilted lovers are encouraged to bring their ex’s old crap to destroy. Lavely says people come out of the Smash Shack much calmer and less angry. Upon first interpretation I thought “Smack Shack” was a euphemism for masturbation. Oh well.

Brilliant!  I actually thought of something similar years ago.  I was going to call it “Tension Breakers”.  Now I wish I had followed up on the idea.  Sometimes you just need to vent your frustrations not jusy with relationships but everything—work, kids, parents, whatever.  It’s helpful to have a safe environment in which to do so.

Fun concept, but the pricing system on the website seems like it would require a hefty investment to really work through a divorce or messy break-up. And chances are you’re going to need that cash for a lawyer or new digs. I’d probably opt to just stay at home and swing a Louisville slugger on the stuff I already own, or pay for kickboxing classes at the gym (where I get the added benefit of getting into shape).
