Rihanna went out last night wearing a long cardigan as a dress. We can’t decide whether this is a good idea. Sweaters aren’t normally long enough to cover our butts, but maybe in the winter, when tights can provide extra coverage. [NYC, 6/10/09]

I think it can work on shorter people who don’t have mile-high legs. One of my classmates would wear sweaters as dresses, but she was also about 5’2. So while it looked absolutely adorable on her, the look didn’t translate as well when our 5’10 classmate tried it out.

If I had her body type and was in that shape, I’d go out in whatever the hell I pleased and rock it like there was no tomorrow. Come to think of it, I pretty much do that now.

I think that you should only do it if you can pull it off. Its not different than wearing a shirt dress, but you have to have the right kind of body to make it look good and on Ri it works!

I think it works like this but I think tights might ruin the look. I see a cardigan looking more frumpy with tights or leggings or anything but, well, legs, underneath.
