Beyonce's bangs

We noticed our good friend Courtney Dunlop over at the Stylelist blog posted this rather disturbing pic of Beyonce out on the town wearing one of the most questionable hairdos of all time, the curly bang. (Although maybe she just needs to read our post about how not to look a hot mess?) It seems like even a star of her caliber is having trubs pulling this look off, leading us to pose the question: Can curangs ever look good? [Stylelist]

*sigh* this is why I hate my curly hair.  I want bangs so bad, but know that I don’t want to look like that lol.

One thing I always do before leaving the house even if I don’t have time to straighten all of my hair: I always straighten my bangs. First of all, curly bangs are shorter and harder to control and keep to the side, so I like my straight.

Hey, don’t hate on girls with curly hair! Geeze, we face enough pressure already because of the whole burn-your-hair-stick-straight trend. It’s hard having [naturally] curly hair.
Though I admit, curly hair with bangs may not be a look that works for everyone. Ages 12-14, sporting this look (plus glasses and braces, of course) had me looking like Ugly Betty. Eventually, though, I cut my hair and learned to part my bangs so I didn’t completely obscure my forehead, and I’d like to think I’ve learned to rock my curls.

I have naturally curly hair that I don’t do much with in terms of styling, because (thankfully) it behaves pretty well with minimal management. However, I look better with bangs, so to avoid looking like I just got out of the pool all the time, I have to at LEAST blow them dry. I usually also run a straightener over them quickly, but it’s just to get them to curl slightly and have a more uniform placement while still looking fairly natural with the rest of my hair. Blowing dry and straightening takes about a minute all together, which is completely worth it, considering the alternative…curangs.

Naturally curly hair here too, but I need bangs to cover my five-head, so I straighten them every day to some extent. Curly bangs almost always look like you’ve got a forehead fro or a strange mullet going.

Which, I suppose, worked well for me in the 80’s, early 90’s. smile
