PSA Warns Against Laying “Man Traps”
We’ve seen some pretty strange PSAs in our day—the insanely over-the-top texting and driving one, the one with Hilary Duff warning not to use the word “gay” as an adjective, and the one of the kid eating dog poo. But this British PSA from 1974 has me scratching my head the hardest. It warns against laying down rugs and setting “man traps.” Huh? [BuzzFeed]

Oh, I get it! It means, it’s dangerous to lay rugs down on nicely polished floors b/c the rug will be very slippery on the floor. My mom would do that, and we would slip on them.

yeah, but what do they mean about it being “a man trap”? Are they trying to say women are smart enough not to walk on rugs on polished floors and men aren’t? Weird.

The texting and driving PSA was not over the top, it’s making people aware of one of the possible consequences of driving while texting. They’re trying to shock you into not doing it anymore, and sometimes that’s just what people need. >_<’ Anyway, this British PSA was definitely random. I guess it’s trying to portray what lostrun thought about it.
