Prom Mix: Dance Your Fancy Pants Off

Prom Playlist

Ah, prom. The only thing worse than the fashion faux pas epidemic is the music—and by worse we mean so, so bad, it’s goooooood. Now that we’re spotting teens making the same hideous mistakes we did sporting puffy pink dresses, we couldn’t help but feel a tinge of nostalgia for our own high school dance. So, we put together a playlist of the classic songs we used to dance and make romance to because even chaparones would agree that prom is definitely better heard than seen.

The only music I actually remember from prom is Sandstorm, and they only played that so the boys soccer team could repeat their strobe-lighted dance battle from the pep rally in the fall.

And the one good thing about the music is there are only three types of songs:
1 - slow songs: you either sit these out alone or do the awkward arms around the neck or hands on the waist shuffle (standing farther apart if you’re not really that close or barely separated if you’ve been seeing each other awhile.)

2 - fast songs: anything that you can wiggle or jump to; pretty much the same dance moves for any of these songs

3 - ? songs: no one really knows why the DJ plays these, since they are neither slow enough to slow dance to, or aren’t fast enough to show off your dance moves. These are the ones where you go work off dancing cramps, use the restroom, or get punch.

Ah, prom. How awkward.

My prom was full of rap crap that girls took their impossible heels off to grind against the pimpled face boys with over gelled hair. *sigh*

heeey I wore a dress that color, yellowish. But mine was way more old school glam. I wanted to look “classic”. lol.
The music was OK at my prom, the DJ volunteered to do the afterparty for free at my house, it was waaay awesome. I dont even remember the music, i just remember having fun. This May is my little brother’s Prom. *Tear* he’s growing up so fast.

a couple of these songs were played at my prom too…ill make love to you, i don’t wanna miss a thing, oh and OF COURSE Electric Slide!!!! everyone knows the dance to this one its classic. except everyone would start off going in different directions so we would all bump into each other. And when Cotton-Eyed Joe came on we’d all do the cotton-eyed Joe dance and end up kicking each other in the shins.

I really don’t remember much from my prom.  It was really, really boring.  If only I hadn’t been such a socially awkward teenager.  My only memory is that two other girls had the exact same dress as me and the curves to show me up.
