“Project Runway”: Reality Show Or Garnier Product Pusher?

OK, “Project Runway,” we get it. Viewers own TiVos and fast-forward through commercials, so advertisers want products plugged in the show instead. We understand. But last night’s “Project Runway” went too far! Designers have always sent their models to the L’Oreal hair and makeup room and the Garnier hair salon and that’s fine. But we never had the name of the products shoved down our throats quite like this before. “Project Runway” titled the task of creating a beach look for surfer girls the “Garnier Challenge” and a Garnier hairdresser told the designers how important hair will be to complete their look on the runway. Tim Gunn, no doubt rolling his eyes inside, mentioned several times how the models needed to head to the Garnier hair studio, where the Garnier hairdresser got more screen time and showed all of Garnier’s green products in the background. Then the Garnier hairdresser made a comment before a couple commercial breaks, which led with Garnier products. I had to stop myself from shrieking at the screen, “I buy Garnier shampoo, conditioner, and frizz-ease, OK?! I swear! Leave me alone!” Seriously, “Project Runway,” don’t do that s**t again. Or at least try to slip product placement in and trick us.

This is something that annoys me about “The Biggest Loser”, too. I love that show, but the blatantly obvious product placements are a bit much, to say the least. @@

I could’ve sworn I’ve heard them pushing lip product in past seasons…maybe I’m confusing PR with ANTM?

Could somebody forward this article to Garnier?  Tell them, people are sufficiently pi**sed by their over the top product placement that they are not going to buy their products.  Shove your product down my throat, and I’ve already had my fill and am not interested, thanks!

I know they only say it probably once an episode, but it still bugs me when Tim Gunn is like, “Use the Macy’s accessory wall accordingly” or something. Can they just stop all the plugging?

The season 6 of the hit reality show that pits would-be designers against one another will be again a sure hit. Project Runway Season 6 Episode 3, the next entry series about people who make ridiculous clothes that no one would wear, and most of the time look awful, was chock full of suspense.  The series, which switched to the Lifetime Network, is really popular – and this time Ra’Mon (oh, how we never tire of people whose names are grammatical errors) and Mitchell won, but since Mitchell didn’t do anything was set home.  He may need paycheck loans now, but Lifetime won’t with Project Runway Season 6 Episode 3 ad revenue.
