John Travolta May Be Done With Scientology
For as long as John Travolta has been a Scientologist, the media has been making fun of him. But the jokes grew bitter six months ago when Travolta’s only son, Jett, died. The 16-year-old, who was believed to be autistic and allegedly wasn’t treated because his religion did not allow it, died of a seizure. This devastating blow no doubt changed how the Travoltas think about the church. Rick Ross, an author and lecturer on Scientology told The Daily Mail that, “There have been strong rumors coming out of Scientology that John Travolta is disappointed that the religion was not able to help his son more ... It’s led him to question his faith.”
Over the years, Travolta has risen to the level of Operating Thetan VII, which is a title just one rank below the most (known) senior position. To reach such a high standing, you have to tell your darkest secrets to the church via “auditing” sessions which are taped and kept on file––which could easily be released if Travolta decides to split. The star also gave millions of bucks to build the Scientology Superpower Center in Clearwater, Florida, another reason separating could be so hard. Even if there’s any truth to these rumors, John is sure to detach from the church on the down-low. So I guess we’ll have to wait and see? In the meantime, we can just be thankful no more “Battlefield Earth” movies are in the works. [Daily Mail]

I wonder if it’s because his gay lover/nanny(John Kathrein) isn’t part of the cult?

I would have to assume that if any confessional videos ever did get “leaked” that this group would fall out of favor with celebrities, and then where would they get their money?

@*sam*: Ditto. I am in favor of people being able to believe what they will, but not when those beliefs adversely affect others, and especially not when those others are children.
I’m out of town for a few days and not really “around”, but I checked in briefly, and this story - even the chance of it being true - made my day. The reason why he’s pondering this is tragic. I’d wish it on no one. But if, out of that tragedy, something good happens, then there will be some small silver lining to a very dark event.

I just hope his family is able to pull through this. I have deep-seated moral dillemas with the Church of Scientology, and while I do believe in freedom of religion, I feel that if you have faith, then money should be no object, so why do scientologists have to pay for worship and church rituals? A religion for the rich, isn’t a religion at all imo.

I liked Battlefield Earth. It was bad cheesy SciFi but John and Forrest Whitaker were good campy.

Any religion that denounces modern science and ignores medical problems is complete crap.
It is just too sad that John Travolta had to realize it through his son’s death. No one deserves to lose their child I hope he can heal with religion or not.
