Pikachu, the cuddly character gifted with the ability of death shock lightning. Now in your panties.

Forget pikachu, this is a cool thing for the people who feel bad about how much waste their period creates in landfills.  I bet they make some simple pattern instead.

@Queen - Charmander would be better than Pikachu, you’d have an excuse for the burning down below.

I realize I know entirely too much about Pokémon, I’m ok with that.

What’s the problem, the cloth pad or the Pokemon theme?  If it’s the cloth pad, I’ve been using them for 20 years and they’re great, work out to cost very little, and easy on the planet.  If it’s the Pokemon theme…..I see your point. smile

Perhaps it’s a sad commentary on the early onset of puberty in girls these days.  When the girls are young enough to still wear Underoos, these would make sense.

Although, the idea of “chucking it in the wash” with other washables strikes me as incredibly nasty!

Ewww - “chuck it in the wash” after use.  I do enough laundry as it is…

Ummm… am I being naive? I love the idea of these eco-friendly, reusable pads, but how do they not get permanent blood stains? Are they made from special stain-resistant material? In which case, they should make underwear out of that material. Or do you just ignore the blood stains? This is really TMI, but I need to know. (I’m a loyal tampon user myself, but curiosity has gotten the better of me here.) Does anyone know?

Also, these seriously must be targeted to middle-schoolers, right?

Hi Perceptible:
Yes, they are great.  If you can deal with regular pads, you can deal with these.  They wash out easily… just rinse them before you throw them in the washing machine.  The only problem is if you work with other people, travel a lot, you have to find a way to wash or store them discretely.
BTW, they come in way better colors and patterns.
Also, I use this:  http://www.divacup.com/
Its way more comfortable than a tampon, its pretty easy to deal with, and you’re not throwing your bloody pads/tampons in the trash, down the toilet, etc., or supporting nasty corporations like Proctor & Gamble.  Boo-hiss.

@brandyalexander: yes! To the diva cups and reusable pads…(Which, after cleaning up after my kids, not that gross.) Also the diva cup helps you measure your “out flow,” which probably saved my life after I was having some major cramps. TMI? I’m sorry.

I gotta say I’m kinda psyched to see so much cloth love here.  I do think the pokemon print is a little silly, but some girls get their periods terribly early so I guess for some it would be age appropriate ...

I own some Lunapads, and they’re pretty cute.  But I wish custom themes could be designed.  I’d decorate mine NPR-style.  (I’m a public radio junkie.)

And sadly, the Diva Cup does not work for me.  I have a tipped uterus.  :sigh:  Genetics thwart me again…..

I have to be honest.  I’m more comfortable with “landfill” than I am with shoving that in my washing machine.  Ewww.  And I prefer tampons, but…do they come in Vampire Erik or Vampire Bill?  Because I could rethink my stance on this.

@brandyalexander; You say they’re more comfortable than tampons…are you referring to physically, I do not see how this can be. You can’t feel tampons.

Admittedly, not all of it was the Frisky’s fault.

To me, they are.  I can feel tampons, they feel stiff dry and they hurt like hell to take out because they adhere to my skin when my flow is light.  To quote the vagina monolgues:  “a dry wad of f*cking cotton?! Vagina motherf*ckers!”
If you’ve never seen or touched a DivaCup before, they aren’t like normal plastic, they are very soft, silky, and flexible.  They mold to your body and adjust to body temperature.  You don’t feel a thing.

@brandyalexander; Ah, I see now.
That’s quite strange; Usually, unless one’s using it wrong, or one’s vagina is ridiculously non-elastic, one cannot feel tampons at all. Or maybe your vagina’s rather dry?
Ah, well, it doesn’t really matter.
I certainly don’t need to waste my time trying to convince you to give tampons a shot, as it does not effect me.
Especially since you already have—hahaha.

I don’t know if you inferred that I thought DivaCups are uncomfortable, but I assure you I didn’t. I know enough about them to know they’re not uncomfy. smile

Oh lord (blush)... I don’t think I’m extra dry! Its just that the cotton soaks up too much so that it hurts to take out.  I just don’t like them, they’re not for me… But yes, I do like the cup…
Sigh.  Daily overshare?  Check.  My work is done… going home…

I can’t use tampons either.  They bother the hell out of me.  But I have endometriosis and the doctor has said that is not uncommong.

@brandy & remember: It’s not a “dry” factor at all.  If brandy has a lighter flow, the tampons are going to not only absorb her flow, but her natural interior moisture as well.  I’m a lighter flow gal and I cannot (and will not) wear tampons either.  I even tried the super teeny tampons for younger girls and they were still too absorbent.  And trust me, do not have a dryness problem.  Its all about the flow smile
