Playboy Jumps Into The Vampire Craze

Playboy

Here a vampire, there a vampire. “Twilight.” “True Blood.” “The Vampire Diaries.” These days, you can’t leave the house without running into another bloodsucker. Now, Playboy magazine has jumped on the bloodthirsty bandwagon with their new October issue. The cover is a pulp fiction tribute to hot girl-on-girl throat-bleeder action, starring Playmates Kasia Danysz and Weronika Zurkowska. Inside, the magazine explores the finer nuances of 21st century vampire life, including “why the undead are hot again.” You’ve come a long way, Dracula. [io9]

Ah, Playboy. I remember when you were enjoyable to read and featured, at least on occasion, women who weren’t surgically enhanced. Now you’re coming across as desperate.

I remember being a teenager and absolutely fascinated with vampires but because of all the cheesy vamp TV shows/films (yes, I include True Blood and I religiously watch it for it’s campiness) I can barely tolerate another bloodsucker themed anything.

As much as I want to write a vamp screenplay (contradictory, isn’t it?) there is a such a saturation of vampire themed entertainment that I think I might wait 10 yrs. to write it.
I’m kidding but all the blood and fangs are getting to be a bit too much- this is coming from a huge horror fan.

Honestly, as big an erotic craze as vampires are these days, it would be remiss for Playboy NOT to do a cover story on them!  While as Magenta points out, for many the market seems saturated, there’s also no indication of waning interest.  And even when pop culture moves on to the next big thing, the core fans of vampires will still be into them.
