10 Places NOT To Meet Men

Where Not To Meet Men

Last night I saw an Alvin Ailey Dance Theater performance. It was spectacular. However, as I looked around during the intermissions I realized this performance was a horrible place to meet a man. Some men seemed to have been dragged to the theater by their wives/girlfriends and the others seemed to be gay. Some people say that to meet a new man you just have to go out, but I think there are some specific places you shouldn’t go to meet any man. Check out 10, after the jump…

1. The ballet: See above.
2. Twilight book signing: This book series doesn’t offer much entertainment for mature men, so we’d be skeptical of any man that loved it enough to go to a book signing.
3. Drag queen talent show: Something tells us that we wouldn’t find a huge selection of straight men here.
4. Baby shower: Most men avoid baby showers like the plague, so the majority of men attending are probably married or involved with a woman that is attending also.
5. Funeral: We just think it’s disrespectful to be on the prowl at such a solemn occasion.
6. Male or female strip club: Would you really want a guy that you picked up while he was ogling another woman? Similarly, we doubt a male stripper would be boyfriend material.
7. Fashion show: A fashion show should be all about the fashion and the designer. You can meet a man at the after party.
8. Group therapy: Knowing your partner’s issues and him knowing yours before you’ve exchanged addresses or had a first kiss seems like a recipe for disaster.
9. Barbershop: There will be way too much pressure and prying eyes to try to make a connection at a barber shop, which are “no-woman’s land” for a reason.
10. Weightlifting room: Any guy that is seriously lifting weights will be too preoccupied with himself to notice you. Save yourself some hurt feelings and wait until he comes out of the locker room.

I would agree with almost all of those. However the barbershop one, granted being inside an actual male barber shop and not the hair cuttery, it will most likely be pretty quiet which doesnt lend itself to open conversation. If you were to happen to bump into him coming out however or entice him to follow you into a starbucks for some warm coco…things might work out. I say entice but I dont mean something silly like flashing him lol or bending over to pick up a pencil, those are just sexist, just in whateveer way you like. Plus, as a bonus, he will have a nice soft new haircut you can run your hands over later. =)

Craft Fairs.  Behind every cute guy checking out customized snowboards there’s a cute girl waiting to show him a quilted tote bag.

I actually had a dream that I met a man at a hair cutting place (not a traditional male barbershop) and we ended up getting married.  Yes, this all happened in the dream.

Your article made me laugh out loud.  Available men are everywhere and they do appear magically when they see a beautiful, confident woman who can write well and is kind and funny, too.  Avoid men in the parking lot, especially at night!

I would also add Night Clubs, do you really think men go to dance, like us girls?? NO. they go to pick up chicks for the night.
Also,
At work! Even if he’s the hot UPS guy, or Brinks guy that comes every week. I totally have a crush on this guy across the hall from me, but he helped me through a REeeeally embarassing situation, so Ive been too shy and embarassed to even think about asking him out. Thats good i guess…. avoids me some trouble. :/

Good advice grace. I agree, single men dont congregate around a half dry watering hole and swish their tails like we are on an african plain. No need to go hunting for them, just be aware of your surroundings and one might stumble in front of you foraging for berries on the street. =)

@bexo
If you have seen it with your own eyes then I trust you, I definitely have my own thoughts on that one but I will let it be. =)

@miss
was he just there or did you seduce him with a shampoo and rinse? (of his hair…pervs)

Agreed Bee, men definitely do not go to clubs to dance by any stretch of the imagination, that i know of. Have you ever seen a guy not talk to a girl that just waked up and join arms with his buddies and say “not tonight hun, we just came to dance…...let’s do this fellas”

@east
Bah-hahahaha! I would LOVE to see that!

And about the weight room. I hate it when guys DO try to hit on me there. I’m dripping sweat, I’m in the middle of an intense circuit, and I tend to glare at people who get in my way. Don’t my sweaty, baggy clothes say leave me alone?

My Mother always said: Never think you’ll meet the man of your dreams somewhere like a bar… If you meet him in a bar, that’s where you’ll be for the rest of your life…

Smart woman, my momma. smile

And to the craft fair comment: HAHAHAHAHA Kudos! Good call!

ha ha ha ha….and another thing to put on this list, don’t go anywhere Kiki might be. Although the men will be all very attractive, fun, smart, will tell you how pretty you are and offer great conversation, none will like you like that.
