Nipple Surgery For Breasts

Who’s your nipple role model?

Have no idea what we’re talking about? Good. You haven’t been brainwashed by yet another plastic surgery trend we don’t understand: nipple surgery to change the shape, color or size of your areolae.

According to the Daily Mail, a cosmetic surgery clinic called the Harley Medical Group in London has reported a 30 percent rise on nipple surgeries in the past year, including more from women who haven’t recently undergone mastectomies.

With a price tag of roughly $3,200, there are oh so many ways to sculpt your funbags: ‘padding’ the areola with extra skin as to push the nipple out, ‘popping out’ inverted nipples, and even getting tattoos to change the areolae’s pigmentation. Owwwwwww.

How dies the supply/demand on stuff like this work? At least one doctor thinks celeb nip slips are the cause. “Until now celebrities didn’t expose their nipples so they were no ‘nipple role models,’” explained Dr. Riccardo Frati, a plastic surgeon with the Harley Medical Group. We’ll stick with professional role models, thanks.  [Daily Mail UK]

brainwashed by yet another plastic surgery trend? what a woman chooses to do with her body is her business - there is no reason to call her brainwashed if she chooses to undergo a cosmetic procedure. seriously.

I’d like to see the end result of these surgeries. What difference will it make after you’re, like, 50-something? Besides a significant other being interested in seeing your breasts from time to time, how fascinated could you really be with your own nipples to invest over $1,000 in them?

Don’t get me wrong, a well rounded nipple can really set off an otherwise average or mundane chesticle. But come now, ladies. A breast is a breast, after all, and as a man, once I see the bra come off, I’m not too picky about the particular color or texture of one’s areola.

...Unless it’s hairy. Then, maybe a little. Or, on the other hand, if you have braille nipples. Those are fun. smile

Maybe brainwashing is a harsh word. And yes, they should be allowed to do whatever they want. But I think the fact that women feel like such a tiny, yet beautiful, part of their body is “ugly” is sad. Sometimes I worry that plastic surgeons make money off of women’s insecurities.

Actually, now that I think about it, I do have nipple preferences. I think I stepped on my own foot there. I’ve never been a fan of really long nipples (kinda like little breast fingers); I once dated a girl who had sort of inverted nipples with wide areolae (they looked like tiny frisbees sitting on top of her breast—adorable).

I think I put too much reflection into this post…

I would do this if I had the money, I don’t like my breasts or nips.  I want them to be more symmetrical.

I totally support this type of plastic surgery.

I really feel for girls that have nips they don’t like. I agree with Jessica that its sad they think they’re ugly, but I can understand the sensitivity. My close friend has large, dark ones and they show through her bathing suits and whatnot, and she is really dissatisfied with them to the point of embarrassment. Also, I’ve been told by men that they prefer smaller, light pink nipples.

Honestly, I think we as a society need to ease up on making fun of or judging women that have plastic surgery. Yes, it can be frivolous and dangerous at times, but so can tanning, teeth whitening and even hair removal. If a woman wants to change her body, so what? If it makes her happy then who cares? It’s their money and their bodies. If you had nipples that covered half your chest, wouldn’t you want to neaten things up a bit? I mean, how could you ever wear low-cut shirts or normal bathing suits? And if you had inverted nipples, and you wanted to breast feed your baby, wouldn’t you pay to get them fixed? And yes, plastic surgeons can prey on women’s insecurities. But so do authors of self help books, makeup lines, hair dressers, personal trainers, diet food manufacturers…. the list goes on.

I’d do it. I would make my nips (areolae) smaller cuz it is just not proportionate (TMI? sorry haha)

But then again, I would also get the vag plastic surgery. My boyfriend thinks I’m a weirdo but I just dont like em!

@Arsenic You have really good points, but I’m wary of one type of glorified, “perfect” body becoming the standard, rather than most women just embracing their so-called flaws and the body parts that make them feel insecure.

Whoa…is this another thing I’m supposed to be insecure about?  I missed the boat on that one.

All the different kinds of nipples is a big part of what makes breasts so interesting!

Ridiculous! And yes, plastic surgeons do live off of people’s insecurities.

Nipple role models…WTH!!!

I would not do it. But then again I am more than satisfied with my nips and awesome areolae.

I had small breasts and nips until I got pregnant with my first baby, and after that, my areolae were considerably larger but still in proportion to my overall larger breast size. Even after breastfeeding four babies, I have no major gripes about my breasts and would not change them simply because a few men “prefer” small, pink nipples. Women of different backgrounds have certain characteristics about them that defy the “norm” or what is “desired.” I’ve noticed that women of Middle-Eastern or Asian descent tend to have smaller, darker nipples, which can appear to be even darker than they are in contrast to the woman’s skin color. This is a characteristic similar to hair texture and nose shape, and aren’t these things part of what makes us all unique? If someone doesn’t like my nips, they can suck it…I mean, them.
