10 Pairs Of Gloves You’ll LoveYour mom doesn’t make you use those mitten clips anymore, so why are you still wearing the boring knit gloves they came with?
I’m so torn. I feel like I absolutely have to rebel against the idea because, well, what straight guy could want to wear them? And, really, most of them (I checked out the site) look ridiculous. But… part of me sort of…
*hides*
...thinks they might be kind of comfortable.
*ducks head in shame*
Well, that is, if they were durable enough and the design was either just a solid color or not too “peacocky”. I do sometimes envy you women for your ability to pretty much wear anything and get away with it unless it’s inherently ugly.
It bugs me that you feel you have to include men’s pantyhose in the same photo gallery that you put things like Borat in that ‘mankini’ thing—or those ridiculous mittens hanging from the hat (that wasn’t a guy in that photo anyways, was it?) I don’t classify men’s tights/pantyhose in the same category as some of the other things. TIME magazine online did a photo essay last week that was much more balanced. Unlike the ‘mankini’ or the hat/mittens, guys are wearing hose for a variety of mainstream reasons, including leg support (for poor circulation, occupational issues, athletic performance), and added warmth w/o bulk.
I guess people tend to ridicule that which they don’t understand, so maybe I should direct you to my blogsite, The Nylon Gene (http://www.nylongene.com) where you can get more balanced information on why men are wearing legwear these days. As the marketing director for ActivSkin Legwear for Men, I am certainly biased—but then I came to work for the company because I believe in the product and wanted to serve as an advocate to promote the mainstreaming of this emerging trend.
And, no, wearing pantyhose does not make men ‘the new women’. It doesn’t take too much searching to find that men who wear them do not sacrifice their masculinity. If the guy wearing them appears effeminate, he was probably already that way.

Who knew Mel Brooks was so fashion forward?
“We’re men…we’re men in tights (TIGHT tights!) Protecting the land, defending the people’s riiiiiiights!”
