Osama Tees and “Anorexic Legs” Stockings Not So Cute

Ida Pyk campaign

Every now and again a young designer comes along and gives us hope for the future of the industry. Today, Swede Ida Pyk is not one of them. Though we imagine the intention behind her Osama Bin Laden tees and “anorexic legs” tights was ironic, unfortunately, they’re a bit of a FAIL in that department. Call us crazy, but something about a kid holding machine gun ammo just turns us off… [Refinery 29]

More looks after the jump, and you tell us, irony stretched to its limits or just plain offensive?

Stupid on several levels.

More cerebral forms of offensiveness aside, how exactly does one pass oneself off as a “designer” of cheap-looking T-shirts and muscle shirts?  Couldn’t I do that in my garage with a stencil and a can of spray-paint?

When there actually ARE children in the world being taught to use assault weapons, putting a couple bleached out modles in the same position is in bad taste at BEST.

The rest, I must agree with BlueVibe, is stupid at best. Attempt at irony = epic fail.

The only way you could get this to be anything but a fail would be to put the tights on a plus size model.  That would be irony (although still painful).  This is just offensive and disgusting.  I mean, putting a tank top that says “I used to be anorexic, but I’m better now” on a model who is obviously unnaturally thin is just wrong!

I’d rock the “I used to be anorexic…” shirt, but only because on me it would be extremely ironic… or maybe people would be worried that I’d over done it, since I’m a size 12!
