Nicole Richie Maternity Line

Naturally, just because you’re about to be a mom doesn’t necessarily mean you want to look like one.  But have you had a chance—or a reason for that matter—to look at the maternity clothes options out there? You’ll realize quickly that chic maternity picks are just as hard to come by as plus-sized ones can be. Then Nicole Richie got pregnant! The socialite-turned-reality-star-turned-designer/model has upped the ante for pregnant fashionistas everywhere by designing and starring as the face of her first maternity line, which will be sold at A Pea in the Pod stores. In an interview with People, the pregnant mom (her first child, Harlow, is 19 months old) said carrying a child can totally derail your style. More looks, after the jump!

“You really feel like you have to change your whole wardrobe. And that’s the last thing a woman wants to go through. So I really tried to make this line to get women excited about wearing clothes.” Her design inspiration was the pregnant body itself, so each piece is made to show it off. That means you can expect lots of soft, layering tees, long maxi-dresses and flowing peasant tops. Nicole’s collection ranges in price from $48 to $148 and will be available at A Pea in the Pod stores nationwide. [People Style Watch]

umm ... if you’re far enough along in your pregnancy to be showing, where are you going in these outfits?  And the second outfit, how high are those heels, 4 maybe 5 inches?  Besides the practicality of the clothes, I think they’re just plain ugly. * Fin *

Pea in the Pod has cute stuff, but it gets really expensive, especially since you wear maternity clothes for a short period of time.  The Nicole line is affordable, but those $48 dollar items are probably flimsy t-shirts.  I agree with Kathls on the heels observation; no pregnant woman in her right mind would wear those.
