Nicole Eggert Makes Fun Of Being “Fat” For Funny Or Die

In this Funny or Die video, former “Baywatch” babe Nicole Eggert tackles the subject of her weight gain, leading Salon’s Broadsheet to wonder: empowering or embarrassing? In the skit, Eggert bounds across the sand to save two young men pretending to drown to get some hot female lifeguard action. When they see Eggert has put on a few pounds, they pass on her life-saving techniques. “Is this because I’m fat?” Eggert asks. Suffice to say, the boys’ superficial response generates its own karmic punishment in the end. Salon’s Julia Furlan can’t figure out if this is a “you go, girl” moment or a sad mockery of plus-sized women. Since Eggert is slated to star in the next season of VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club,” the former “Baywatch”-er has already put the subject of her size on the table for discussion. What do you think: a clever spin on anti-fat acceptance or a sad way for a woman to have to get publicity? [Broadsheet]

yeah, she can’t weigh more than 150 pounds. she’s not fat, but i kinda think you need to be in extra amazing shape to look good in a bikini. she’s not there, but, she’s not fat, and this seems mean.

that’s exactly what they’re poking fun at: she’s NOT fat by normal human standards, but by “hollywood” standards she is since she can’t squeeze into a size 2 anymore.

first of all i think her bikini makes her look like she has fat, because it is not her size… 2nd of all she has an amazing body.. very sexy and healthy… seeing bones/ribs/etc is not pretty…

Whoa ladies. Why do we have to go to the size bashing right away? I’m definitely what you would call plus-sized, and I feel awful when people say bad things about me, and even worse when they say bad things about girls who are in better shape than me (like the hot lifeguard up there who may be a bit out of shape, but I feel like “fat” is not the word for it). But that doesn’t mean skinny girls deserve to get bashed, either. Some ladies are naturally skinny. Some are naturally athletic. Some are naturally fuller. Obviously lifestyle will have some effect on these figures, but there’s nothing wrong with a girl who is lacking in the curves.
But one gripe: @canadiancutie: Her figure is in alignment? Um… with what? She is not a planet lining up with the sun and the moon to make an eclipse! Maybe you mean her figure is not “in alignment” with your ideas of what equals thin. That doesn’t mean the rest of us are pretending when we say she’s not fat. There’s a difference, as amber up there said, between being toned and being thin. Thin girls can jiggle too, if they’re not toned.

@Canadiancutie: Do you ever consider how your comments are going to be taken by others? Making fun of Nicole Eggerts body was not the point of this article, and the way you said it was down right cruel. It’s comments like yours that promote body issues and eating disorders.

On a side note….....I hate the phrase “real women”. It implies that there are “fake” women, or lesser women. A woman who is a size zero is a REAL woman, a woman who is a size 12 is a REAL woman, a trans woman is a REAL woman. There is no narrow definition of a “real woman” and I’m sick of it. We need to stick together ladies, the more we insult and marginalize each other, the more we give men permission to do the same thing. Sure health is important, but self-worth is the most important thing of all.

It was a funny clip. Hollywood standards are nuts. Every one is different. If some one doesnt like how some one else looks then dont look.
