New Plus-Size Lines Faith 21 And Pure Energy Have Got Big Competition

This spring, plus-size lines are blossoming! Target has launched a plus-size line for teens called Pure Energy that goes up to a size 30. But it’s mostly ho-hum basics. Also, Forever 21’s new full-figure line is launching this Friday! Called Faith 21, the clothing sure sounds sweet, almost too sweet. This dress from their new plus stuff is pretty darn cute, but what’s a bad girl with a big butt to do?

Here are some chic plus-size threads that have got enough attitude to rattle the new competition.

This would be a lot more effective if the models in these pictures were actually plus size. There were only a couple of models that even challenged society’s ideal size/shape. My guess is that it’s probably because not many plus size models exist. :(

@theattack: fashion plus size is still around a size 10, and that rule is only broken by some private chains specifically targeting bigger women. Its definitely unrealistic, but at least they aren’t little waifs trying to sell plus-size lines! lol.

Number 10 made me cringe. Could just be my personal taste, but I don’t think a sheer top with the bra showing is flattering on ANY shape or size. Otherwise, there’s some pretty cute stuff in there!

@PinkRanger: size 10?! Really?! That’s crazy considering how many size possibilities there are after that. I still think there’s no way #4, 6, 8, or 9 are even a size 10 though.

Thank you for this post.  I’m a plus-sized girl who works in a pretty conservative office, so I spend a lot of time at the usual suspect shops.  But I love me some fashion too, so I’m always looking for a little spice.  I’ve got some new places to try - woo hoo!

I’m really sick of places saying they have plus-size clothing and then only going up to like XXL. That kind of seems what most of these are.

Who can afford a $235 dress?! MonifC and Kiyonna have cute plus-size clothes, but for the “average” woman, they are rather expensive! But thanks for also giving us some not-so-pricey options!

I love torrid, but I also find myself going to goodwill to shop for my plus sized self.  Designer clothes at cheaper than target prices. (And conservative enough for work.)But I love the pinup outfits, very cute.

Thank you for this article. I’m a size 10/12 depending on the fit, but the problem is not only with the modeling industries, it’s also stores like Target that have their Massimo Stock line(whatever they call it) and an XL is actually big enough for XS. I have wide shoulders, curvy hips and boobs. Plus I’m petite. I do not want to dress like I an old woman which some stores offer for their ‘Misses’ I deserve cute, sexy, fun clothes that I could actually fit into and I happy to see that despite that the clothes here are a bit expensive, but if your patient you can keep an eye on the clearance section.

For girls (like me) who are more plus in the bust than elsewhere, I highly recommend this online Brit shop: http://www.bravissimo.com.  Their stuff is generally simple, neither high fashion nor fuddy-duddy, but it’s a miracle to find dresses and shirts that are properly tailored for my shape. And I firmly believe that well-fitting, flattering clothes go much farther than cutting-edge-of-fashion trends. (Their sizes only flirt with the edge of plus-sized—up to an 18 British, which is approx. a 14 US—but for curvy girls, it might be just right.)  Shipping to the US runs about $11/order (no matter how big), and the exchange rate with the pound is currently very favorable against the dollar.

Hey!!!! When are petite women gonna get their break? And I mean cute petites, not that granny trash at JC Penney! Can I get a petite pair of jeans that arent cut in that typical “misses” fashion- teeny waists with huge hip areas and huge thigh areas? Glad for my plus-size girlies and all the new lines for them, Im jealous of your clothes! =)
