5 Celebs Who Dissed Their Younger Rivals

Every time someone has something mean to say about Rachael Ray, I am all ears. I can’t stand her “delish"s or “yum-o"s. The only time I made it through a whole episode of her cooking show, she made a hamburger salad followed by a pizza salad and I wanted to claw my child-of-a-chef eyes out in terror. So, when my hero, Martha Stewart, said that Rachael’s approach to cooking was “not good enough for me,” I immediately Twitter-agreed with her. Martha went on to say, “I mean, I really want to write a book that is unique and a lasting thing, something that will really fulfill a need in someone’s library. So, she’s different. She’s more of an entertainer, with her bubbly personality, than she is a teacher, like me.” [NY Daily News]

I agree, Martha. But it can sound a little like sour grapes when someone disses a younger rival. Here are some celebs who’ve critiqued their successors in not gentle ways.

  • Last week, Wynonna Judd said that Taylor Swift‘s CMA Artist of the Year award was “too much, too soon ... Time is God’s way of keeping everything from happening at once. It’s just too much of a good thing soon . . . I want kids to earn it.” Well, yesterday she apologized, presumably realizing she came off as a grumpy has-been. “My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry ... all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of ANY age. Taylor is a beautiful, hard working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business.” [Us Magazine] — That’s more like it! We womenfolk need to stand up for each other.
  • Oooh burn! Christina Aguilera laid it on thick when the internets accused her of stealing Lady Gaga‘s steez. “You know, that’s funny that you mention that, this person [Lady Gaga] was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I’m not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don’t know if it is a man or a woman. I just wasn’t sure. I really don’t spend any time on the Internet, so I guess I live a little under a rock in that respect.” [Celebrity Fix] — Seriously, Christina, there isn’t a rock big enough to hide under. Stop pretending you’ve never heard of Lady Gaga at this point.
  • Rapper Foxy Brown took a low blow at Lil’ Kim when she did a verse in rapper Boss’ new song. She said, “Mutha f**kas will never catch me dancin’ with the stars, never! You rap b***hes wanna be me so bad, you studied my whole swag.” [Hello Beautiful] — I don’t really care about her dissing Lil’ Kim, but to diss the magically bizarre, ice-skating-outfitted “Dancing with the Stars” is not cool.
  • Megan Fox isn’t the only one who resents being compared to Angelina Jolie. The elder actress said of Fox, “That woman acts like a fool. She needs to mind her Ps and Qs. She’s saying shocking things for attention, but those things will follow her around and be reprinted forever ... I wish someone had pulled me aside when I was young and told me that. Now, I’ll forever be known as a lesbian or a self-cutter, instead of what I worked so hard to become. You have to put a muzzle on it!” [Examiner] — At least she speaks from experience when she lays out the criticism.

aw come on…when christina said that about lady gaga, I didn’t know who she was talking about either. Wasn’t that awhile ago, anyway?

I agree! As much as I adore and admire Lady Gaga, she had totally been biting Roisin Murphy’s style and Christina Aguilera was platinum blonde first! Before this year, Lady Gaga was only popular in dance clubs.

Yeah…christina said that AGES ago, when “just dance” had just come out and christina’s greatest hits was new in target.  It’s kinda funny how she went from people saying she’s a copier to now when people know she’s just a wild individual with a very unique sense of style.  Christina’s clothing and looks are more for the stage

Lil Kim went to jail for not ratting out a friend. In jail, the most popular show was Dancing With The Stars. When she got out, she was offered the show, and took it immediately as a show of loyalty to her former inmates. Foxy Brown might want to think twice.

Yeah, that X-tina quote was from forever ago. I’d never heard of her either at that time.

I’m not a big fan of ‘the bullhorn’ my nickname for RR however, I think Rachel just has a different market. Her recipes are for working people with families who need to get dinner on the table quickly after working all day.  I love Martha’s recipes, I have years worth of her magazine, but her recipes are sometimes very involved in technique and are more “weekend” projects.

Meredith I totally agree! Lady GaGa is a total rip-off of Roisin Murphy since she came out. It annoys me so much and Roisin is so much more talented.
