Marilyn Manson Says He Wants To Beat Evan Rachel Wood With A Sledgehammer

Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood

I understand that some people despise their ex after a breakup. But Evan Rachel Wood better watch her back. In the new issue of Spin, Marilyn Manson gives a vivid account of how he cut himself with razor blades after their breakup. And he has this to say about Evan: “I have fantasies every day about smashing her skull with a sledgehammer.” Just a normal day in the Manson home…or the most despicable quote ever?

Here’s what I don’t get. Last week, when David Letterman told a few Palin daughter jokes, the media circus came out in full force. But Letterman was joking—I’m not so sure about Manson. And sure, some people might say that’s just him—he goes by the name Marilyn Manson, after all—but I just don’t know. This reminds me of when Hulk Hogan said in Rolling Stone, that after finding out former wife Linda was dating a teenager, “I totally understand O.J. I get it.” Or Eminem’s song “Kim,” dedicated to his ex-wife, where he sings, “Now shut the f**k up and get what’s comin to you…you were supposed to love me…now bleed! Bitch bleed!”

Geez, sometimes I wish guys would learn to cope with breakups by eating a pint of ice cream and watching a “Big Love” marathon. What do you think? Is it ever okay for guys to express violent thoughts like these about women?

As long as the person doesn’t act out on it I wouldn’t really care.

I’ve always wanted to castrate my ex and occasionally fantasize about what I would do if I could get away with it.

It would be nice to at least have one standard. If Hogan and Manson can say such things, then Letterman shouldn’t have been subjected to a week long media circus over his jokes.

Come on! You can’t be serious looking like that!

agreed - after all go reread the forums of child v. child-free and read where some mothers talk about how being a good parent means not acting on wanting to hurt/kill your kids - but that having the thoughts (which then then at least mention in these threads) is totally normal.

Why don’t we stick to worrying about people who actually DO hurt others instead of judging those who are brave/stupid enough to say these things outloud.

Marilyn Manson saying that isn’t very. . .surprising. As long as he doesn’t threaten her or actually do it, it’s OK. I may be a little frightened if I were her, but maybe she’s into that kind of thing, seeing she dated him.

If someone other than Manson said this, it would probably be more shocking. Furthermore, I can’t imagine anyone taking a woman seriously if she said she fantasized about sledgehammering her ex’s head. Perhaps because it’s more common for a guy to do crazy #&@$% like that? Just sayin.’

-giggles- Funny you should say, “I wish guys would learn to cope with breakups by eating a pint of ice cream and watching a “Big Love” marathon. ” It seems like he’s got it down according to this pic: http://www.thefrisky.com/site/post/246-quick-pic-when-did-marilyn-manson-turn-into-cookie-monster/

I don’t know why anyone would even be surprised by this. Manson has been saying outrageous things for publicity from the very beginning of his career.

Besides, we ALL have these thoughts. Most of us only bitch about it to our closest friends, rather than interviewers. =P
