Man Accuses Cat Of Downloading Porn

A man in Florida has quite the alibi as to why police found more than 1,000 images of child pornography on his computer. He said his cat did it. Now, I’ve heard about dogs eating homework, but never have I come across the my-cat-downloaded-porn-while-my-computer-was-open-trading-music defense. Well, if he ever is acquitted of the porn charges, he’s all clear to be the next victim of attack by the RIAA for openly admitted to authorities that he was downloading music. [Yahoo News]

I wish my neighbors were that interesting.

I don’t know if he’s telling the truth or not but my cat’s sent several IMs to coworkers and routinely locks my keyboard, disables the glidepad & occasionally turns it off.  considering it only takes one wrong click/bad url to turn your computer into a pron zombie this isn’t as far fetched as it sounds on the surface.  again, no idea if this guy’s telling the truth or not but I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss it out of hand nor to trust the authorities interest in “truth, justice & the american way” nor their technical competence - these sort of “busts” make great headlines & distract from their rather poor batting average in prosecuting the architects of the economic meltdown, catching actual terrorists, etc…

1000 images? Seriously? And you think the cat actually did that?

I don’t think that it’s likely that the cat did it, in that I think there aren’t many places a cat is going to accidentally browse to that’ll end up fetching 1000 kiddie porn images. However, it’s hard to tell from the wording in the story if he had 1000 such images, or if there were only 10 (and just 1000 images of whatever type altogether).

Depending on from where he was fetching the music, I suppose it’s not impossible some paw swipes caused 10 images to be downloaded. It shouldn’t be hard to determine when they were fetched (was it all over a short few minute period, or over many days) and where they were stored (the default location, or in multiple places), which could begin to possible corroborate his explanation.

bad kitty!!  I wonder if he came up with this story beforehand in preparation of being caught, or if he came up with this on the fly.  Probably not smart enough to think about being caught anyways.

All my fat-ass cat does all day is sleep in sunny spots on the floor.  Maybe he can learn how to use the computer and then could bring in some extra cash teaching PowerPoint, Excel and Photoshop.  After all, he is on prescription cat food ...

Does that make his cat a petofile? [yep I went there]
@40yearolddad: And why was he being investigated in the first place? Overdue parking tickets? His BBQ was too smoky for the neighbors? I think the State should crack down on them, too.

I’m sure registered sex offenders and pedophiles have to leave out the welcome mat for authorities’ unannounced visits when their description/profile match a suspect. Also that recovered “Handbook for Perps” listing foolproof excuses for police when caught: “#8 – blame it on Tigger or Fifi” doesn’t help either.

My beloved Clark Cat, RIP, answered the phone when I called home from work; and he used to flush the commode. Trouble is, I was never able to get him to hang up; or actually use the commode first before flushing 20 or 30 times, perched on the seat, head circling as he watched the water whorl down. Cat TV – good times.

Lets hypothesize here, if the cat actually visited a malicious website, or ran some bad juju code all kinds of bad things could happen. One popular thing among online bad guys is to bring down all kinds of antivirus software and open ports upon your machine, then while running their trojan you machine can remotely (By it’s self) connect to bot-nets and other baddies and that is where the porn could of been from. It is unlikely, but I’ve seen children wreck computers in similar ways.

I’m sure it’s just a big misunderstanding. Fluffy was just trying to catch a mouse when she danced across the keyboard.

Kitty porn/kiddie porn. Cats are easily confused and often download the wrong type.

I have a relative that isn’t the brightest crayon in the box.  He has a 2nd hand computer.  He ‘found’ child porn on his computer.  Tried to get rid of it but couldn’t.  He called the FBI about it and is now facing 5 years.

I don’t know if he did it, if it was there when he got the computer or if someone was maliciously sending him things but the whole idea scares the #&@$% out of me.

He’s saving work for his defense attorney by setting himself up for an insanity plea.
