Mackenzie Phillips Changes Her Tune About Her Relationship With Her Papa

Mackenzie Phillips recently revealed that she had an incestuous relationship with her father, Mamas & The Papas singer John Phillips. But now she’s changing her tune about the relationship. In her memoir, Phillips called the relationship with her father “consensual.” But yesterday on “The Joy Behar Show,” she decided to “reframe” the situation saying, “I wouldn’t necessarily call it a consensual relationship at this time.”
So, why the change? Phillips says she’s been “schooled” by incest survivors all over the world about how there is no such thing as a consensual, sexual relationship between a parent and a child. She also claims she was trying to “preserve the memory” of her father during the writing of her book, which is common for victims of incest. Even though Joy Behar and special guest Dr. Drew agree with Mackenzie’s new insight about her experience, I’m hoping that it won’t kill her already tenuous credibility. As it stands, stepmother Michelle Phillips and stepsister Bijou have vehemently denied her allegations. I would like to believe that she is a confused victim trying to sort through the emotional rubble of years of drug and sexual abuse, but this interview makes me question her, if even just slightly. I’m concerned that she might have written her memoir in haste, without getting the proper professional help to understand the situation. And by the nature of dropping the kind of bombshell that she did about a family in the public eye, she will automatically become a role model for other incest survivors. But is she ready to be a role model? [PopEater]

She is a mental case and I do not believe a word she says (which some of her relatives agree with me on that) funny she did previous ” tell all books” in the past but never dropped this “bomb” until the person she is charging is dead and unable to defend said accusations, how convienent. She also has no career and needs the filthy lucre from her book and TV show appearances.

all you bleeding hearts accuse me of not being “sensitive” to molestation issues. I personally just believe the woman is a liar or delusional.

Virtually everyone on the inside of the Phillips family dynamic (including friends of the family) agrees that there were epic levels of drug use going on when Mackenzie was growing up. I fail to understand why it is so difficult to believe that a child could not fall into some kind of harm (whether that is sexual, emotional, or whatever) in a family where such substances were a part of daily life. Clearly, if boundaries were so clear and present, why would drug use be so rampant and apparent to nearly everyone involved?
Not only this, but people have been known to do things under the influence that they would never, ever consider when sober. Exhibit A: Shaniya Davis (the 5 year old in North Carolina) was trafficked and sold into sexual slavery by her own mother to settle a drug debt. Would her mother have done this sober? All evidence seems to point to no. And yet, under the influence of drugs, things turned out very differently.
It is unfortunate and heart-breaking to consider, but I do not see why people do not see how such a thing could happen. Personally, I believe at the very least that Mackenzie must have suffered some serious trauma to even intimate such things in private, yet alone go public.
