Win This! Lucky Shops
If you’re in New York City next week, you’re a lucky girl. On Nov. 6 and 7, shoppers will be able to snap up deals and steals from more than 80 designers, including Frisky faves like Mint Jodi Arnold, Charlotte Ronson, Hanky Panky, and Rachel Comey, as part of Lucky magazine’s Lucky Shops event. Tickets start at $20, but with free cocktails (if you’re legal), giveaways, and up to 75 percent off designer goods, the discounts and extras make up for the price of admission. [Lucky Shops]
WIN IT! Can’t make it to New York for Lucky Shops? We’re giving away two Lucky Shops VIP gift baskets filled with goodies like Kiehl’s sunscreen, Huggable Hangers, Redken styling products, and a Nine West vintage belt, but you have to work if you want one. The two best commenters for this coming week—from today, Friday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 5—will be awarded with one. So, be as clever, smart, and original as you can! I’m so bummed. I live in NY and have gone to this in the past but I’m going to be out of town for it next week. I love the unique stuff I’ve bought there in the past (including a purse with a hidden compartment for a flask!) I always look forward to the goodie bag like a kid looks forward to Christmas. Please pick me, I love Lucky Shops more than Jon Gosselin loves being a douche bag!

newsflash users who are only here in hopes of winning contests: bad poetry never won anyone anything. ever. unless you consider eyerolling and dry heaves to be a prize ...

@joyy - - not necessarily true. I won my first Frisky prize with a well-crafted Haiku.

My mom and I went to Luckyshops last year. Soon after she developed cancer and is in a hospital bed now. I will spend the day with her in NJ in her hospital room. It just wouldnt be the same without her and we have only months to share. I would love to win the bag so she could remember the happy and carefree days of last year before mestatic cancer.

YIKES!! I’m almost a little intimidated to leave a comment, feeling like I’m walking into a cat-fight. Sure, I’d love to win a basket, because I think my girlfriend is worth it, but is it really necessary to extrude our wolverine-like claws and take swipes at each other? Maybe, as a newbie, I haven’t learnt yet who’s who on the food chain, and maybe some of you feel like it’s your divine right to win whatever prize is offered up because you’ve been here longer than the rest of us. If that’s the way things are done, ok, I’ll continue to read the stories and comments as an observer rather than a contributor, if not, well, with naïve trepidation, I humbly submit my comment for consideration. Thank you all, and have a great day.

If teen vampires is a guaranteed win, is mentioning Kanye West a guaranteed loss? Do the two cancel each other out? I mean the dude’s gotta win something, at some point. And better for that win to be some sweet swag for a broke girl like me than a dump trophy for his swirly-haired self.

Hi Frisky Ladies! I’ve been reading for a long time, but I’ve never commented before, so this is very exciting for me. I am humbly submitting my entry in hopes that you will help me be the best big sister ever. My sister and I have been reading Lucky for years (I always get it and tag “The Beauty Closet” for her). I’ve always wanted to take her to Lucky Shops, which falls right before her birthday (November 10th) but since moving to D.C. 3 years ago, my job luck hasn’t been what I’d hoped it would be. A Political Science degree doesn’t exactly set me apart from the masses here, go figure! I was really hoping to take her this year, but was laid-off in September (queue the wah wahs). Needless to say, a glamorous weekend of gallivanting and shopping in New York is officially off the agenda, thus severely lowering my chances of winning the “best sister ever!” title. However, I think she’d totally lose her sh*t if a fabulous Lucky VIP basket arrived at her door. Her friends have been driving her up a wall lately, and she’s been working her tail off in nursing school. I think the basket would really make her birthday. If my heartfelt plea doesn’t tug your heartstrings enough, please at the very least take pity on her, as the only gifts that fall within my very unemployed price range are the SlapChop and the President Obama Chia Head. However, with the Frisky forces combined, I think we can turn me into the Captain Planet of big sisters and save my sibby from an “As Seen on TV!” birthday hell. Thanks for considering my entry!

@EmilySchmemily….
I have no say, but since today is the last day, I pick you for one of the baskets. I’m a marshmallow at heart, a real sucker for a sob story, and it’s kind of cool when older siblings do something nice for their younger brothers and/or sister, so I hope you get one. Now, if you’re pulling the wool over our eyes, well then, may a fleas of a thousand camels infest your under arms hairs.
PS: Just kidding on the curse

This frisky gal is not lucky enough to live in NYC but I’m one lucky gal to live in Chicago - home of my number one and two craves The Chicago White Sox and Chicago style pizza.
