Live Out A Fairy Tale With Disney Princess Engagement Rings

Disney engagement and wedding rings

Disney realized a lot of women want fairy-tale princess weddings like the ones seen in their animated movies, and a couple years ago, they began selling wedding, bridesmaid, and flower-girl dresses based on Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, Snow White, and other princesses. Now, they’re taking the dream one step farther with a line of wedding and engagement rings.

For $1,200 to $6,000 (not including the center stone, known as “semi-mounts” in the biz), Prince Charming can propose with a ring that corresponds to a Disney heroine, created by Kirstie Kelly for Disney for Mouawad. Personally, we’re not sure we want to live out the “happily ever after” fantasy: Disney princesses wear pretty gaudy rings. [Kirstie Kelly for Disney by Mouawad via Luxist]

WTF. This makes no sense. I don’t even remember Disney princesses showing their rings. I’m pretty sure none of them ever really did. How will a woman even know she’s wearing the “Snow White” ring unless someone tells her?

You know, obviously I am not a “normal” female.  I didn’t want to wear an engagement ring at all.  I don’t like diamonds much anyway, and I wanted the cost of the ring to go to our honeymoon fund.  My husband was disappointed that I didn’t want a ring, so we compromised, and I got a small, tasteful, not hugely blingish sapphire.  I also got the honeymoon of my dreams.

They weren’t all terrible.  A couple were very pretty.  Seeing as I have a center stone (set in a plain mounting right now) that I am seeking a semi mount for I’ve been looking at alot lately.  Those were some of the least hideous I’ve seen in a while.

We got married in Disneyland and had a custom ring made for me. For the center stone, a sapphire, and we had a small “hidden mickey” put in the side of the ring in small round stones…am I in violation of copyright?

Either way, having a custom ring made WITH stones was waaaaaay cheaper than those half finished things, even the cheapest one!

I thought this was the guy who designed my ring, but it’s not.  He does beautiful work though.  But he’s stretching it for Disney.  You can get similar settings for much less at regular jewelery stores.
