Lady Gaga Shows Her Support For Marriage Equality
Yesterday was the Marriage Equality March in Washington, D.C. as gay rights activists came out in droves to demand the right to get legally married in the United States. Many celebs were on hand, including Lady Gaga, who gave the speech above. Props for the Judy Garland joke, G! [Los Angeles Times]
In other gay rights news, at a human rights dinner this weekend, President Obama vowed to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the 16-year-old policy which bans gays from serving in the military if they are openly gay. About. Effing. Time. [Wall Street Journal]

Does anyone else find the fact that C-Span had to rush and figure out what her name was to put that caption there really funny?

I will say this, its fine if Gaga wants to support gay rights, more power to her. However having been a fag hag for most of my life I have quite a few male gay friends and spoke to a few of them over the weekend and the concenus is this. Obama’s mention of Lady Gaga (which he meant as a joke) at his speech was pandering and actually pretty stereotyping. Believe it or not not all gays like Lady Gaga, Madonna or Kylie Minogue. There will eb true equality when all these sterotypings cease, for eveyone..against blacks, asians, etc.
Obama vowed to end ” don’t ask, don’t tell” but did he say when ? NO. And why not ? Talk is cheap and its especially cheap when you are a smooth talker. many in the gay community have come to believe he is just another politician who used them for his gains and now that he got where he is he will throw them a bone now and then will some flowery speech. Also he wants their fincial support as the 2010 elections are around the corner. Actions speak louder than words.
