Kirstie Alley Is A Hot Mess On Oprah
Kirstie Alley was a hot mess on Oprah yesterday, dishing about her “humiliating” weight gain after she appeared on the show in 2006 in a bikini. She told Oprah that her weight started ballooning after she moved her gym equipment into her garage and turned the empty space into a dining room. Hmm ... Maybe not the smartest move, Kirstie. When asked how she felt after seeing Valerie Bertinelli, Kirstie’s replacement as a Jenny Craig celebrity spokesperson, in a bikini on the cover of People a few weeks ago, Kirstie responded that she was inspired to lose weight and beat her. Oprah reminded her that being in shape isn’t a competition, and Kirstie replied: “That’s what people say when they’re gaining weight.” She also told Oprah that she has created her own weight loss program and has lost 20 pounds in the last five weeks. Opes was understandably skeptical and said, “Twenty pounds in five weeks? How did you do that?” To which Kirstie replied with a smirk, “I’ll tell you later.” Oprah, I’m sure, can’t wait to hear all about it. When Kirstie announced that she plans to be in ripped shape by November, just six months from now, Oprah looked her up and down and said she couldn’t let her make an announcement like that on national TV. “OK, fine,” Kirstie replied, “February, then.” (And, of course, you can follow her success on Twitter). So, there you have it, folks. Expect a major weight loss to coincide with the launch of Kirstie’s new magical program sometime early next year. Yo-yo dieting: it’s not a PR move, it’s a lifestyle.

Isn’t being a magical Scientologist supposed to help with this? Sounds like someone needs some auditing to find out why all those pesky body thetans want her to be fat!

Looking at her neck I do wonder if something’s up with her thyroid.

@Amelia: The correct answer is Mormonism, the magic underwear makes the pounds fly off!

@ CheeeeEEEse…
And whatever’s left over, don’t worry, the heavy doses of religious guilt will make you sweat the rest away.

Many of us struggle to attain the unattainable media defined “perfect body”. Running, working out, swimming all to achieve that “look” that we are all suppose to have according to our media. It’s sad Kirsties’ struggle is so public. She’s spending all her time trying to achieve that “look” that she’s missing out on life. What’s with the phrase “being in shape”? Is that “being healthy”? No, it’s you need to fit this “shape” that society defines for you. Blah, don’t get me started.

@Tim I am with you that to maintain the Hollywood would mean that you eat 1 meal a week but the girl is fat. F-A-T, fat. I am not a skinny minny myself but if I just eat healthy for a week, I would lose 3 lbs. Perhaps our girlfriend on TV should not be eating bad food.
Then there is a good friend of mine that gains weight if she breathed. But if she eats healthy, she is not huge. The minute she lets go, she is over 200lbs. So, we just have to respect our body, eat healthy and it would naturally go to a shape that is best for you.

I agree with Keesh Mia. Kirstie Ally isn’t “fat” just compared to warped Hollywood standards. She is fat compared to anyone’s standards. And that’s just not healthy.

Just from what I’ve read about Kirstie and seen in her behavior on TV, I’d bet that the problem with her weight has some sort of emotional root. She doesn’t seem to be happy or relaxed, but tries to make herself seem like she is - kind of like Oprah when you think about it. I think if she focused on getting in shape mentally and not worry so much about being thin, then she’d eventually get to a healthier place physically too. That place may not necessarily be a rail thin place, and she has to accept that. This applies to Oprah as well.

@Tim: You hit it right on the head. The obsession to be thin is harming so many people. I remember people saying Kirstie was still fat when she showed up in the bikini on Oprah. Why are we so driven to be “perfect” at all costs instead of being happy with ourselves? The drive to have it all and be “perfect” is just as unhealthy as being fat - if not more.

It’s hard enough losing weight, but to be in the public eye, with everybody seeing you lose the battle and talking about it…..I’d want to shoot myself. I obsess enough about it too much and manage to keep in the range of “okay plus a little bit more” I wish her the best of luck!

Kirstie assumed Scientology would take care of all her addictions. She just replaced the cocaine with food.
She makes me nervous. Seems like she’s barely keeping it together and is always jones’in for the next spoonful of Ben & Jerry’s.
