When Kenyan Women Boycott Sex For Seven Days, Someone Is Bound To Sue

Last week, a faction of women’s groups in Kenya called for the country’s ladies to boycott sex for seven days to push political leaders to take a stand against the violence that’s broken out there since the last election. And one man, James Kimondo, is so mad at his wife for withholding sex that he’s actually suing her. “My wife has denied me my conjugal rights,” he claimed. “This has caused me anxiety and sleepless nights.” [Yahoo] — Dude, really?

Before you read on, we want to warn you that you may have a rage blackout from the blatant sexism involved in this case. Basically, more than 1,500 people have been killed in Kenya since the controversial election in 2007. So this group, G10, came up with the idea to boycott sex because they felt “the country’s male leaders should not have time for matters of the flesh when the country is ensnared in economic and political turmoil.” [Telegraph] — Now, that makes sense to us. Suing your wife for standing up for something she believes in, something that could actually better the country? Not so much.

Not to mention that we’re talking about seven days here. Big whoop. But Mr. Kimondo doesn’t see it that way. “I have been suffering mental anguish, stress, backaches, lack of concentration,” he told reporters outside the Nairobi High Court, where he’s lodged his petition for damages. — Dude, forget the lawsuit. Just give your wife a divorce.

The good news is that the strike ended on Wednesday, and its organizers are calling it a big success. G10 convinced many prostitutes to join in the strike. Even the wife of the Kenyan Prime Minister got in on the (non) action. [BBC] — Yay!
