Now, our Vice President is known for having foot-in-mouth disorder, but this little quote in particular icks me out. For starters, it’s kind of un-patriotic. I don’t think that American women are the most beautiful in the world, but it’s not my job to think or say so. But as VP, if Joe Biden feels the need to talk about the “most beautiful” anything, he should really stick to the good ol’ U.S. of A. Really, I don’t want my VP ogling the ladies when he goes abroad and if he’s going to, he should do so subtly and keep his observations to himself. The fashion industry, which employs a bevy of Ukrainian models, already does more than enough to make the Average Jane feel inferior next to ladies like Dasha Astafieva. [NY Daily News]

Biden is pretty old (and certianly good at putting his foot in his mouth and not realizing that things have changed A LOT over the years), so maybe we should give him a little context and credit. There was once a time where complimenting a countries young ladies was an easy way to express goodwill toward that country without having to actually comment on anything having to do with policy. Also, since American women could be considered as comming from everywhere (we are supposed to be the country of immigrants - the great melting pot - afterall) you could consider a compliment to any nations ladies a compliment to American ladies, since some of their genes are among us!
I’m not normally a big Biden defender, but he’s said things that are so much worse that it seems a shame to pick on him for this one, which is mild in comparison.

I agree it may not be a very professional thing to say but to go so far as to say that if he gives anyone compliments he should limit himself to american women only? For me - being European - this is completely bizar.
Are you that insecure that a compliment to a foreign woman immediately means “Americans are ugly” to you? This reminds me of the whole “Gwyneth Paltrow says something vapid about buildings in spain and the whole nation freaks out”.
Seriously, relax.

No, clown, she’s is not the president of Ukraine’s wife. The woman with Biden is Yulia Tymoshenko, the PM of Ukraine. And Ukrainian women are not more beautiful than any other nation, you just don’t see near as many fat sows in Ukraine as you do in this over-eating country.
