Jessica Simpson Goes Goofy For Ear-Candling!
No, Jessica Simpson hasn’t (completely) lost her mind and isn’t sacrificing herself to the hair-extension gods. Rather, the ditzy blonde had friend and hairdresser Ken Paves film her as she gives herself a little ear-candling treatment. Supposedly, the process is a natural way of clearing out the nasty wax and gunk that clogs your ear canals. You buy the candles at a health food store, stick ‘em in your ear and light the top on fire—the smoke is supposed to travel down the ear canal and then suck out the debris. I’ve done ear candling a few times (with the assistance of friends) and have found it to work—the best part of the whole process is cutting open the candle at the end and seeing all the crap that was sucked out. It’s really satisfying if you’re into nasty stuff like I am. However, our lovely style editor, Erin, has informed me there are some who think that the process could damage the ear drum or something, so either go to a professional or, you know, avoid it entirely and just watch this vid. I wasnt too crazy about sticking things in my ear as a child. As an adult i doubt i’ll be picking up the habit.

i read once that this is kind of fake and that if you cut open a candle that hasn’t been used, you’ll also see dark colored “wax” inside. anyone tried that?

I’ve burned a candle halfway and then cut it open to see if any wax had come from my ear, and it turns out the wax was coming from the candle, and while it wasn’t dark before being burned, it turned the color of earwax after burning. It’s too bad it a joke, cos cleaning my ears is a bummer. Now I just irrigate my ears like they do at the doctor’s office! It feels so good, and you can do it at home for free!

Ear candling is a crock. It doesn’t actually work.

She looks great without makeup!!! I use wally’s ear wax candles all the time to help with my hearing and they work great! I do think she had to many christmas cocktails and should watch the flame by her head while being so jolly
