Jean Paul Gaultier Is Designing For Target!
It’s official. Jean Paul Gaultier has signed on as the newest Target Designer Collaborator, inciting gasps and breathless moments from fashion lovers all over. He’s the third designer to take part, following Alexander McQueen who drew inspiration from Liela Moss of The Duke Spirit, and Anna Sui, whose “Gossip Girl” pieces were a major fan obsession.
Beginning on Mar. 7, his designs will enter only 250 stores, and if the previous collaborations are any indication, this one certainly won’t stay on hangers long, especially considering its limited locations. Interestingly, it comes out separate from Fashion Week, so the pop-up possibility seems less of a reality this time around. Still, we have to wonder: Will his designs for Target look more like his own line, or his Hermes creations? Because the tennis slash country club look is way more mainstream than clothes he sent down the runway for JPG, but we’ll swoon for a variation of the slashed and see-through pieces that walked down the runway for spring. I’m plus size girl, so I’d love to see one of these special collections have something in it for me someday. I know it’s highly unlikely, but a girl can dream….
