Is Your Dog Cute Enough To Be First Dog?
In his election night speech, President-elect Barack Obama told his daughters they had earned a puppy, and speculation over what type of dog the family should get began. Michelle has said they will be getting a shelter dog, but with Malia’s allergies, it needs to be hypoallergenic one.
No matter where the Obamas’ dog comes from—the pound or a breeder—it has to be photogenic, for sure. We bet your dogs are awfully attractive, so we want you to send canine photos and videos to tips@thefrisky.com, along with the reason your dog would be the perfect presidential pet. Next week, we’ll post the cutest dogs and award one the title of First Dog.
UPDATE: Barack Obama responded to the question at a press conference today…

I heard from someone in Chicago that they already picked a black lab and named her Zoe.

Labs can’t possibly be hypoallergenic though…cute cute cute name, however.

My dog’s name is Zoe and she is quite adorable, but way to furry and fluffy for them.

Labs are not hypo allergenic. I wish it were a black lab though, I love them
I emailed the campaign and suggested a Greyhound. They’re *generally* hypo allergenic (one, sparse coat) and often in shelters. Now that MA has outlawed dog racing, lots will be in need soon!

Anything that has wire hair is hypoallergenic, as they have hair like humans and don’t shed. I think my wiry doxie is the cutest dog ever (and she doesn’t shed) but there are also a lot of terriers that don’t shed that are in shelters because of their active personalities.
