Nicole Richie and Joel Madden looked a little prom-y at the Noble Humanitarian Awards. His tie and highlights make him look as if he were an afterthought when they were deciding what to wear. But what do you think? Is there ever an appropriate time to match to your date? [10/18/09, Beverly Hills]

I actually think they look cute. If he had gone with the whole polka dot suit that would have been to much, I think the tie is just subtle enough.

Unless you and your date are attending a event at which the lady of the day is wearing a tiara (i.e. a wedding or homecoming dance) matchee-matching looks silly.

matching tie is okay.
matching shirt is WAY too much.

It can look silly sometimes but in this picture it looks nice. Can somebody tell me what they were doing at a humanitarian award ceremony?
