Is Beyoncé‘s New Juniors Line Too Fierce?
Teen girls should be able to express themselves. That’s the point of Beyoncé and Tina Knowles’s new juniors collection for their already established label (Déreon), called Sasha Fierce, after Beyoncé‘s album character. Says Tina, “[The collection] is edgier and trendier and reflects Sasha Fierce’s daring and outgoing attitude.” Edgy is a mild way of putting the “back-to-school” looks that include curve-hugging minidresses, one-shouldered dresses, black bodysuits, and fingerless gloves and f**k-me pumps.
So far, Beyoncé has been a fairly solid role model as someone who exudes a huge amount of confidence, is sexy without being slutty, and projects a solid image of family and relationships. But, we have to ask…would you let your teen go to school dressed like this? [WWD]

Whatever happened to a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers? It’s styles like this that make young girls think they should grow up faster than they should.

This looks like stuff you’d wear to a nightclub, not French club.

Yet another reason why school uniforms are getting so popular…

Ha I would’ve loved to have seen some girl tryin to rock one glove in 7th 10th grade. I can already hear it “You ain’t Beyonce!” echoeing through the hallways as embarrassed girls everywhere return these rags.

I just graduated from high-school almost a month ago and I have to say that clothes are already like this, its not like she’s starting something new. I really like the outfit on the left, minus the gloves. And although I wear heels in school because I love feeling as tall as possible (I’m 5’8 1/2 without heels and when I wear heels im generally 5’11 1/2 or 6”) most girls just dont like wearing heels in school (or cant due to stairs and the amount of walking required) so I doubt those will be worn in school. But I also plan girl’s nights out and just nights out in general so my male friends can come and we dress nicely and go to restaurants and I’d probably buy some of these heels to wear out to something like that.
the dress on the right looks way tight though, something strictly for club wear. But underage clubs (13-17) are popping up everyday.
She’s just making clothes for what the market wants. It wouldnt make sense for her to do it any other way because it wouldnt be profitable. I think its based more for high school than middle school (although if its available 12 year olds will probably try to scoop up clothes like this)

Like SterlinSilver said, I didn’t think these clothes were all that different from what my nieces currently wear. Except the heels and gloves.
This is when I can say with glee—I am SOO glad I have a boy.

I’m going to start sounding old, but “When I was in high school, you would have been called a slut for wearing this sort of clothing.” I graduated in 1999. I agree with intuition. Whatever happened to jeans, a tee and sneakers? Why do young girls WANT to look like that? Save being “sexy” (these looks are more trampy than sexy, quite frankly) for your later years. There is going to be plenty of time to look like a high-class hooker in your 20’s.

These might be aimed is high school kids, but I also remember in college, you could always tell the freshmen apart because they would dress like high school kids for the first semester. All done up and put together. They’ll come to their senses.
