In my opinion, it makes going to work all the more fun. My now-husband and I met at work and had kinky times sneaking kisses in the office. We kept our relationship a secret until after we both left that job. I had a friend who regularly ends up in relationships with guys from work and she also keeps things secret from coworkers. I think it’s a good idea to do that unless things get serious and you want to get married. Just makes things less awkward/complicated.
I have had relationships with guys who I work “with” but not in the same physical office so it wasn’t an issue of running into him every day but guys talk soooo much more than women think they do and at the end of the day it wasn’t worth it because even if “the one” happened to start working there I was already one who had been with coworkers. Not good.
If your cubicle walls are high enough, go for it! If you’ve got your own office, make use of those blinds, and have an ‘urgent, hour-long business partner meeting’.
Me, my boyfriend, our housemates, the housemates’ boyfriends, my old house mates, their boyfriends, most of my friends and most of their boyfriends all work in the same place, a tourism/hospitality venue that’s the largest employer in the state with something like 3500 employees (not counting HR, accounting, that sort of thing. If you did a survey of the place you’d find something like 3 quarters are married to/ dating a coworker. I actually know a girl who’s mum, dad, step mum and auntie all work there in the same department!
As for awkwardness, my ex works there too and is actually really good friends with my boyfriend and my boyfriend’s ex worked there too until she was fired recently. Really awkward dealing with both of them.
Started dating my BF at work, new managers came into the company BF was let go, I still work there. Did not see that one coming. But at least I don’t have to worry about getting drunk and shaggin him at the Christmas party this year

It’s been my experience that the only people who think its a secret are the ones trying to keep it that way
