embroidered notebook

Are you out of ideas for what to get your friends for Christmas? Are you out of money? Why don’t you make something! Our talented Emily stitched this adorable lovebird notebook in a couple days while riding the train to and from work. We recommend that you make a quick trip to the craft store, then put in a favorite holiday movie and get down to business. You’ll be finished by the time the credits roll.

SUPPLIES:

  • notebook with soft cover, such as Moleskine’s Cahier Notebook
  • embroidery floss
  • embroidery needle
  • pencil
  • scissors
  •

STEP 1: Sketch a design on the cover of a notebook in pencil. If you’re not artistically inclined, you can always trace a shape or use a stencil.

STEP 2: Thread your needle with embroidery floss, then stitch your design using a back stitch.

STEP 3: Once you have finished embroidering, erase any remaining pencil marks and tuck in all loose threads.

Awww! I wish I knew people who appreciated notebooks or sketchbooks as much as I do. I guess I’ll just have to make one for myself!
