When it comes to Hillary’s style choices, it seems she’s in a lose-lose situation. She pioneered the pantsuit revival, but some take issue with her signature outfit. When it comes to the “pants saga,” Newsday says the Secretary of State has been looking especially dowdy as of late: “[Her suits are] looking downright shabby, not a bit flattering these days and well, kind of (yikes) jelly beanish.” Clinton Kelly of “What Not To Wear” slings some mud, too: “There’s no doubt in my mind that a colored pantsuit would end up on the top of the trash can on the show. Colored pantsuits are a little silly, outdated and aging. They don’t look like she’s a leader of the modern world.” What’s a Clinton to do?

Get a makeover and revamp her look, and she’ll be criticized for being superficial and overly “concerned about her female image.” (When your style rival is Michelle Obama, who can compete?) Keep on with the pantsuits, and she’ll be accused of being too “mannish” when it comes to her fashion choices.

Meanwhile, you don’t hear anyone obsessing over all those schlubby congressmen in dated neckties and wrinkled suits. Let’s give Hillary a style break. [Newsday.com]

I agree! Hillary should stay focused on foreign affairs, not her style. She has much more important decisions to make!

Hillary is a bada$$ no matter what she wears. She could be in a garbage bag and still be my hero.

I don’t give a damn about what she wears. As long as she’s doing a good job, staying up to date with the issues and pleasing most of the population is doesn’t matter if she’s in a trash bag or a hot pink pantsuit (though either would be scary). She’s a strong woman and doesn’t fit in to the cookie-cutter mold. Good for her!

@Ghirardelli, I agree. I wonder why anyone focuses on what politicians wear, whether it’s Hillary, Michelle Obama, or any other strong or powerful woman (or man). Maybe her pantsuits are comfortable and she can do her job better wearing them. Maybe she just doesn’t care. Why should we care?

Who cares what she wears? The quality of her service is what counts. What do you want her to do? Run around in skimpy skirts and flashy tops? So you can complain about cankles and thunder thighs?

Deffinatly lame that Hillary’s fashion sense gets so much attention. But, if I were in her fashion boat, I’d keep the pants suits, drop the non-neutral colors (most of the time, but keep a couple bright ones around), and get new ones or re-talor the old ones for a better fit.

I personally would never wear a pantsuit as it’s not feminine enough for me. But everyone should be comfortable in his/her own skin, and as Hillary Clinton is in a political (and powerful) position, if she wants to wear pantsuits to stay up with the men, then let her be!
