Heels Are Better For Your Health—And Sex Life!
As soon as I put on a pair of four-inch heels, I long for the moment when I can take them off. It’s not that they’re that painful, but I feel immense guilt about treating my poor little feet so badly. My sky-high pumps can’t possibly be good for them ... or can they?
Researchers in Italy have given ladies a reason to smile—and strut. As it turns out, heels may not be that bad and could even be better than the flatter alternative. In addition to helping you feel sexy, completing your high-powered ensemble, and giving you a bit of a height boost, heels improve your posture, help heal sore hamstrings, and—best of all—liven up your sex life. Supposedly heels that are a couple inches high put your body in a stance that improves pelvic floor muscles, helping invigorate orgasms. Flats, on the other hand, can cause feet to roll inward, inducing shin splints, provoking backaches, and—worst of all—causing the legs of petite gals like me to look stubby.
Don’t hesitate to slip into those fantastic new skyscrapers. Now that you have scientific proof telling you to sport stilettos, you can ditch those flats sans guilt. Here’s to heels! Now start strutting. [The Sun]

As a pilates/pole dancing instructor I have to disagree. I wish!

This really is counter to everything most other respected studies have shown. It doesn’t even fit anecdotal evidence.

This absolutely made my day.
Thank you

I don’t know nutmeg, I’ve always heard that this is true. Stilletos aren’t good for your feet, but I’ve always heard that a low heel, 1-2 inches, is actually very good

Are there 1-2” stilettos? Is that kinda oxy/moron?
The researchers say 1-2”... The article and pic say stiletto.
I’ll go with the Italian researchers—they know about feet/shoes!

I know several older women that have worn heels their whole lives and completely destroyed their feet and backs doing so. Occasionally—yes. Frequently—definitely not.

I think the key here is the 1-2 inch part. “Skyscrapers” are very bad. My mother always tole me that high heels tip your uterus. I also had a (evil) stepmother whose feet were destroyed by wearing heels as a stewardess. And believe me: I know. I had to give her foot massages. You don’t want feet like hers. Or boobs. Or hair. She was pretty nasty all around, actually.

Bad for your feet or not, you ladies have to admit that you
wearing a pair of heels will get us guys checking you out every time.
When we went to a restaurant, and my wife would get up to
go to the ladies room, I would just stare at her walking.
And so would just about every other guy in the room.

Not surprised. See High Fashion or Hooker Chic. I’m sure wearing 5 inch stillettos help every prostitute’s sex life.
I like to wear kitten heels, they’re a lot safer and look cute with everything. I think they’re usually 1 to 2 1/2 inches.

I’ve heard the ‘flats are bad’ part before, but I think that’s predominantly due to the fact that regular ballet flats have no real padding or arch support. I’m generally anti-heel (I have a couple pairs but I only wear them to fancy events where I know I can sit down a lot) but there are shoes OTHER than non-padded flats that don’t eff up your feets, ya know. (Go wedges!)
okay, okay, I admit it: I live in my Bass loafers when I’m at work. I’m totally an old lady.

I think with anything there needs to be a healthy balance between one or the other. If you wear heels all the time, you’re putting unnatural pressure on your foot, and likewise if you wear flats all the time without the support in the shoe (which a lot of ballet flats don’t have) your foot will suffer through lack of support. So, the only thing is to buy lots and lots of different types of shoes

are flats bad if you have flat feet?

@dudette- Yes, flats without any arch support (so truly FLAT flats) are terrible for your feet if you have been cursed, as I have, with flat feet. You need something to create an arch, or it’ll eff up your joints and create stress on the calves etc etc. And it ticks me off because there are some seriously cute flat flats out there right now, and I can’t even go near ‘em.
I am all for rocking out the wedges, which unfortunately, look best with pants, especially when you don’t have magnificent gams like the chick in the pic. And I totally agree with misspixie- any shoe style all the time is probably not the best, so get LOTS of shoes and mix it up!

I have to agree with PS - its bull. Theres a reason why I wear platforms for the pole. And Lynn, you are correct, 1 inch or so is much better than wearing flat shoes.
