Would You Rather Give Up Sex Or The Internet?

Woman Computer

Want to know how important the internet has become? A new study says women would rather be online than have sex. Researchers surveyed 2,119 adults and found that 46 percent of women and 30 percent of men would choose the internet over sex for two weeks. Interestingly, as women age, they become more likely to select surfing the ‘net than taking a roll in the hay, while the number of men choosing the internet over sex lowers as they get older (possibly because if they get any action, they’re not about to turn it down). This year, I did almost all my Christmas shopping online. I’ve found jobs, apartments, friends, dates, tickets, and a vintage owl necklace with rhinestone eyes while surfing the internet. I guess it’s good to know I’m not alone in my proclivities; I, for one, am in the “internet over sex for two weeks” camp. What about you? Would you rather give up sex or the internet for two weeks? ooo thats a toughie, I would say for me personally it would depend on the amount of time I’d be giving it up for. I would personally choose the internet over sex for a good while even though I do have an appetite because the internet will keep you enthralled for countless hours always having new things to look at, then again I suppose great sex could do that too =). Internet for me

@theothergyllenhaal - agreed.  I am always on the web, but c’mon give up sex?  Are you crazy?

I disagree, someone could have great wild sex but still enjoy the entertainment and information given from the internet. Plus if its only for a period of time, not forever. Just saying….

couldn’t do it.  You couldn’t even pay me to not have sex for a given period of time.  I’ve gone 30 days w/o sex before, and I am sure I will again - but the thought of accepting that I won’t…couldn’t do it

I think we all have too much Internet in our lives (or just computers in general I should say).

I would see it as a good opportunity to take a hiatus from the barrage of information smile

I want to say ‘hands down, the internet’ but thinking it over, you’re right…you can buy tickets, find apartments, find jobs, ect.  Too tough to choose :(

would give up sex, easily.  i love the internet.  it is a world unto itself and the people here are amazing, diverse and very, very open-minded, a huge relief from the constricted, constructed atmosphere i now find myself living in.  the exchange of information alone is such a wealth of knowledge that i am still in awe.

This is a tough one. I agree with Erin G that I have way too much Internet in my life but…I’m way more addicted to it than I am to sex. I can go without sex for far longer than I can go without Internet access. And even though this doesn’t say who you’d be having sex with (or theoretically having sex with in my case) but in a way it’s like sex with one person (or a few people) or communication with, oh, everyone you know.

RKB, that’s my reasoning exactly. Plus, I make my living on the internet.

I’d give up the internet, in a heartbeat. There are times when I don’t turn my computer (at home) on for WEEKS. The main reason I’m online so much during the day is because my job can be a bit boring & the internet passes the time so I don’t fall asleep at my desk.

But no sex for two weeks? No thanks!!
