Trends For Men: Garter Belts To Hold Up His Thigh-Highs!

Even after the mantyhose, skirts for men, bras for bros, girdles for guys, and Spanx just for dad, it’s still totally crazy and absurd to think about a man wearing a lacy garter around his thigh. My assumption was that men who wear garter belts must be cross-dressers or into the whole fetish thing. Right? But maybe I’m being narrow-minded over here. After all, John Galliano had male models rocking garter belts during his Fall 2009 runway show (above), and a company called Comfilon sells them along with thigh high stockings (see pic after the jump).
A man taking off his chinos and revealing underneath a sexy black garter belt may be the new trend, but would women actually embrace and find them sexy or, gulp, normal? My reaction is, “No, thank you!.” Maybe it’s sexist, but garters are meant to be worn by women and only women. Or those who want to dress like women. [Trend de la Creme]

it’s like - fashion’s quest of the creation of androgynous humans. (menswear for ladies, man makeup, and all the hosts on ANTM- jay manuel and miz.J- and now men in garters). would this be the only way to end gay discrimination…to blur the traditional styles that separate men and women and create a superandrogynous species!? idk… i’m rambling sci-fi now.

I write for a lingerie blog, and we have a forum on our website. There are a lot of men who join, so I’ve read a lot of the discussions about why they wear lingerie, and the troubles they encounter with finding something to fit correctly. I could see this kind of product being good for them - if it’s made with a man’s body in mind, it’s likely to fit and flatter much more than the women’s underwear these men have to resort to now. But I can’t see this gaining popularity outside of the population who already likes to wear women’s styles in the first place.

So whats the problem, women wear men’s jeans, shirts, tees, etc. So I wear bra an panties, and nylons too. I’m a 59 year old guy.

lol lol depends on whose wearing it. The regular joe? Maybe not. Now if Taye Diggs/George Clooney/Denzel Washington/ wore them then that’s another story…I’d love it!
