Okay, Italy and France, we get it, you guys can make some mean fashion. But the United States has held its own within the framework of fashion history. This 4th of July, wear your patriotism on your sleeve by paying homage to these great American fashion designers.
While originally hailing from the Dominican Republic, Oscar de la Renta became a U.S. citizen in the 70s, around the same time that he was really gaining reputation for his luxe ballgowns with full skirts and loud colors that recall his Latin American roots.

Betsey Johnson, although amazingly talented, she is very heavily influenced from Vivienne Westwood (a British designer). Johnson’s fashions and trends are not as original as the others mentioned above.
Also, you mentioned that Marc Jacobs knows how to show girliness without pink or lace, but the dress you pictured is pink..so that doesn’t exactly prove your point.
