Frisky Rant: I Hate “I Heart My Boyfriend” Items

I’m sure you all are familiar with the insane amount of “I Heart My Boyfriend” clothing and other items that are sold on the back pages of tabloid magazines. And I’m sure I’m not alone when I say, “I really hate those things!” My rant continues after the jump.

It’s not that I have something against love or showing affection. In fact I really enjoy our Love Vandal series and appropriate PDAs make my heart turn to mush. It’s just that I don’t think your T-shirt, keychain or underwear should speak for you. If you’re in a committed relationship, then you should be able to say that to any approaching suitors. It’s also highly inappropriate to have “So-and-so’s Playground” emblazoned across your tush. Now So-and-so might think panties with his name on them are the highest form of flattery (if he’s 18 or younger), but if I was him, I would consider another reason for wearing those panties. Those bloomers could serve as a reminder to his girl not to cheat or to dissuade a potential hook up. All these items that express your relationship status are tantamount to having your guy’s name tattooed on your body. And any sane person, including said boyfriend, would caution against doing that.

Those shirts just rub “relationship” in the face of everyone who’s single. Not cool at all.
