Mindy Kaling has signed a two-year, seven-figure deal with NBC to continue her work on “The Office” next season and develop a new comedy in which she’ll star. Mindy’s so awesome that even her soundbites about the news are utterly adorable. “This is my first step in a Transformers-style way to take over the whole world,” she told Variety. 1. In 2003, Mindy co-wrote and played Ben Affleck in the stage play “Matt & Ben.”
2. She goes by Mindy, but that’s actually her middle name. Her birth name is Vera. “Mindy” comes from the TV show “Mork and Mindy.” When her mom was pregnant with her in Nigeria, “Mork and Mindy” was the only American show they got there.
3. Mindy’s a smart gal. She graduated from Dartmouth, and also writes and produces for “The Office.”
4. Mindy’s real parents appeared in an episode of “The Office” that she wrote—the one about Diwali.

I love Mindy!! Ever since the first time I saw “The Office,” I knew she was brilliant. I remember checking the credits to see who she was, and then seeing that she was a writer.
I wasn’t surprised, but I was SO PLEASED!
