Five Reasons Why We’d Love An Obama Baby
By now you’ve heard the totally unsubstantiated rumor that Michelle Obama might be pregnant. The chances of it being true are slim. After all, having just turned 45 years old, Michelle is of the age where it’s very difficult to conceive naturally, and something tells me that she and Barack (Is it disrespectful to be on a—one-sided—first name basis with the President and the First Lady?) aren’t making top secret trips to the fertility clinic. So, knowing this rumor is most likely going to end up being just that—a rumor—we can’t help but feel a little giddy at the thought of an Obama baby. Five reasons why, after the jump…
1. Maternity Clothes Would Get Much More Chic: Look at the style influence Michelle has already had on regular womenswear. Now imagine if maternity wear designers had to get hip in order to service the clothing needs of a pregnant First Lady. These styles would trickle down to other affordable lines and we would all benefit!
2. People Would Finally STFU About How Cute Suri Cruise Is: Seriously, I am sick of that kid. Little Sasha Obama has helped move Suri out of the spotlight, but a Baby Obama could put her on the permanent back burner.
3. The Bar Would Be SET For Celebrity Baby Pics Prices: Shiloh Jolie-Pitt? She cost pennies. Max and Emme Lopez-Anthony? HA, a pittance! The Obamas couldn’t profit from pics of their new little one, but maybe a little charity known as the American economy could?
4. We Could Play The Lil’ Obama Dating Game!: When he or she has reached 18, with whom will they discover young love? Zuma Nest Rock Rossdale? Or Vivienne Jolie-Pitt? Just not Tripp Palin-Johnston please.
5. President Obama Would Get Even Sexier: Seriously, nothing makes a woman sweat like a man carrying around a kid in a Baby Bjorn. Especially if he’s the President.

I would be so very very happy if this was true. I was just thinking last week America needs a baby in the White House. And by baby, I mean an actual baby, not a man-child like W.

That’s funny. I hadn’t even HEARD the rumors and I was looking at the pics from last week and I thought, “She looks pregnant.”
True, the chances are exceedingly slim, but not totally out of the ballpark.

Not too sound too uptight but yes I think its definitely disrespectful to be on a first name basis with President Obama and the First Lady.
This whole preggers rumor is ridiculous to me. I understand the appeal of the first family but critiquing Michelle Obama’s every outfit and the internet buzz and fascination over a baby bump is a bit much. It’s like we have dumbed her down to a romantic comedy actress/celeb or something.
Next thing you know people will be calling them
“Bachelle” or some #&@$%.
Oh and Amelia I understand your post is meant to be light-hearted so I’m not trying to bite your head off. I just think its important to respect Barack Obama and Michelle Obama for who they are—the President and the first lady of the United States. I’m just tired of people treating them like they are on the level of Beyonce and Jay Z or Brad and Angelina.

I believe this is ridiculous as well.

It’s most likely not true, but I would love it if it was ... the first family is so wonderful! However, I’m sure it would present a security and logistical nightmare, adding to the one presented by Malia and Sasha already. As a die-hard Obama Mama, I’d hate to see them more at risk. If she IS preggers, I’ll be thrilled, though!

It’s less common to get pregnant naturally at that age, but hardly impossible- my own mom was still cycling regularly at her age. I think that having just come off the stress of two years’ worth of campaigning would have more of a damper on her fertility then her age alone.
And while I can see the point some of you have regarding being respectful towards the President and First Lady, I don’t think it’s offensive to daydream about how cool it would be to have a First Baby in the White House… though the “is she pregnant?” speculation in itself could be seen as disrespectful.
What I do see as possibly disrespectful is the speculation by critics.. it sucks to be assumed to be pregnant when you’re not! And after two children, not all women are going to have perfectly flat tummies afterwards, even if they are overall relatively fit… just sayin.

I think this is a fun take on all those silly rumors. Totally agree on Suri Cruise. Agree with SeattleMama, can’t a woman wear a little natural belly fat without sporting a “bump” these days? @Anonymiss, I understand and respect your point, but “Bachelle” is pretty good….

Here’s two more reasons…
6). Mrs. Obama would be setting an amazing example for women world-wide…you CAN be a mother, advocate, icon, fashionista AND help run the country as First Lady! She’s unstoppable!
7). It would give us yet another reason to LOVE this family!
