Stella McCartney To Design Kids Clothing Collection For Gap

Most of the time, I love being an adult. I can decide when to go to bed (or not),  eat an entire package of Sour Patch Kids at the movie theater before dinner, and wear skirts of questionable length. But, every now and then, I wish I were a kid again. Not for the lack of responsibilities or months-long summer vacations, but for the clothes. Today, Stella McCartney announced she’s launching a collection for GapKids and babyGap later this year. If only I could shrink down a bit, I could sport Stella’s designs for less than a gazillion dollars! Here’s what else rocks about shopping in the kids department.

  1. Compared with what we pay for clothes, kids’ stuff is cheap.
  2. Because kids are constantly growing, they basically get new clothes monthly.
  3. Kids can go overboard with sparkles and glitter and pink without looking like Paris Hilton.
  4. When you’re little, you don’t have to worry about what messages your clothes send to the world, which means you can wear your favorite shirt every single day. That is, if Mom allows it.
  5. Us adults only get to wear fancy dresses for special events, but kids can put on princess clothes every day after school.
  6. Someone else is in charge of getting out grass stains.

I can fit into XL kids shirts.  How awesome is that!  And those sweater “dresses” that are so in right now?  Totally long shirts on me.  smile

True story about the prices. It’s so unfair…
I’m not a fan of glitter but I do love nice fancy dresses. I say, dress up whenever you want as an adult too! Whenever I go out after work, whether it’s to chill at a friend’s place or sit alone at a coffee shop, I put a sundress on. Some are fancier than others but I definitely look more dressed-up than everyone else. It’s fun to wear pretty things, and it’s a DEFINITE pick-me-up when I’m in a bad mood!

Anyone can wear a dress or dress up regardless of age.  One has to remember that age is nothing but a number.  While I cannot fit into kid sizes anymore I wear a 1 in Junior’s. Furthermore, did anyone know that kid furniture is the exact same as adults but way cheaper?

Lunicia, Me as well (tres petite—no issues)). I can occasionally wear a classic shirt/blouse or jeans from the kids’ dept. Cheaper, AND was convenient for mother and daughter ensembles, except now she’s teetering in my dept on some things—more $$$, lol.

Generally kids’ clothes are not revealing.  I hate shopping to find tops with thin straps or no backs!  I don’t want to look like a slut on a daily basis.  Kids’ clothes are very modest, I like!

@cjmar: I don’t think wearing spaghetti straps makes you look like you want to have promiscuous sex. And not all kids’ clothing is modest. I’ve seen some VERY revealing girls’ clothing.

I used to babysit for my old boss’s (who was pretty rich) daughter, and I’m pretty sure her cheapest piece of clothing was more expensive than my most expensive piece of clothing.

I loved the list, but @cjmar…wearing backless or spaghetti strap shirts is not always slutty, and it’s really childish of you to say that, imho. I am semi-large chested, and curvy, and yet I can still pull off a strapless or low-backed shirt and not look slutty, thank you.
