According to old school fashion rules, now that Memorial Day is upon us, we can dust off our bright whites without committing a fashion faux pas.
But the sort of thinking that declares a strict divide between summer and winter clothes is just too fussy for us—try these five of our favorite trends from the winter even as summer waxes on. Besides, we’ve never been sticklers for fashion rules anyway.
- Ankle Boots: You rocked ankle boots all winter in skinny jeans and skirts with woolly tights. Why should you look any less bad ass in ankle boots with a sun dress? Where do you people live that jean jackets are summer clothing. You do good to endure wearing clothes at all down here during the summer. I’d have to stab someone if they came at me with a jacket in August.

I generally don’t need anything during the day, but at night if we’re down the shore or if we are going to a movie, I have my jean jacket on.

@IrishErin - Night-time temps where I live don’t get much warmer than 50F, so jackets are evening wear through the summer for sure.

I think a lined gabardine jacket (think Theory) makes a perfect winter/summer jacket. Just roll up the sleeves and you have the LOOK of the season—wear it with anything from short floaty dresses to cut-off jeans with heels. Come, Fall roll those sleeves down and let it morph into the traditional blazer that goes with everything from work to play.

@writergirl it sounds like I’ll need to wear more than a jean jacket if I lived in your neck of the woods, like maybe a gucci bullet proof vest or prada body armor. Stab some one for offering you a jacket, really darling! How many times have you gladly accepted your boyfriend’s sweater when freezing in a movie theater in mid-July?!?! Stabbing isn’t usually an option till after you’re married.
