Fashion Week: Never Heard Of Thuy? You Will Now!

Imagine if Barbarella fronted Blondie, dressed in early-‘90s Versace and LaCroix. Thuy’s spring/summer collection for 2009 was full of imagination, surprises and precise style. The combination of metallics and bold hues gave a very interesting and almost unexpected look for the spring/summer season. Where as most designers tend to keep metallics for winter, Thuy showed that the rules of fashion were meant to be broken.

One of the most stunning pieces of the collection to go down the catwalk was a yellow satin asymmetrical dress. Executing a flawless uptown meets downtown look with a traditional (but not so traditional) silhouette and luminous color? Awesome. Thuy’s collection also features flowing separates with feminine ruffle details that can easily go from day to evening.

The proverbial cherries of the Thuy sundae were hair and make-up provided by Ted Gibson and Mac.The tangerine eyeliner found on all the models is surely going to be on the “must-have” lists for every girl this spring. Lead hair stylist, Liam Carey for Ted Gibson, described his look as, “punk rock meets Upper East Side glamour.” This collection is a prime example of fashion without rules, rules!
